However, you are correct in regards to the film's fight coordinator. he has mad skills and i would love to see his venture with the thai camp

Re: AC/DC plus ‘Iron Man 2′ equals awesome

Mark I can honestly say that there are very few bands on this earth that can match the awesomeness of AC/DC. I know exactly how you feel about this upcoming film/music combo

now...have you ever listened to Rose Tattoo? AC/DC's brother band from Sydney. The Young's produced their first two albums. Well worth checking out if you are a fan of AC/DC, the Ramones, or just dirty fast hard rock....or just anything Australian. to me ALL australian music rules

Re: Jackie Chan says he doesn’t like MMA

guys this is a whole different ballgame...and also one of the reasons MMA does not translate well on the screen. yeah meatheads have made it unbearable for most....including me...but to negate it's importance in martial arts in general is strictly foolish.
i love jackie...but im not the type of guy who is going to wait for my opponent to get up and just get angrier with me because i knocked him down....this could also rely on the scenario i suppose. and no one ever said that fighting (no matter what style) is pretty. it's ugly fellas. very ugly. bruce knew it, sugar ray knew it, and anyone who has ever had to use their training in a real fight knows it.

Re: Thoughts on the future of kung fu movies

well i can say i find that, besides tony jaa (yea yea i know he is a thai actor), it will be hard to put a face on "new Kung FU cinema". However, martial art films in general may not lose interest with the public. it may very well be just the Chinese centered period pieces and action thrillers that won't hold. with the rise of MMghAy, one can only assume that fight flicks will stay the rage....which may be the new tag "fight flick" rather than kung fu flick. dunnoo just a thought.

and by no means am I anti mma. I just have issues with it. big frosted haired, tapout shirt wearin, roid ragin', shit talkin, douchecougar issues.

Re: Preview of Rob Van Dam actioner ‘Wrong Side of Town’

just got the screener for the store. poppin it in after i chug a few beers at the rock show. im thinking it will help. il let you guys know what we are in store for

Re: Preview of Rob Van Dam actioner ‘Wrong Side of Town’

mark, im going to have to call BS on DTV movie of the year. and here is why.

after viewing who actually wrote and directed this film (last video), i saw Defalco....the same defalco that brought us the ill-fated "last house on the left" remake with sage stallone. if ANYONE has ANY clue what i am talking about...find the film CHAOS and access the special features if they are not already up on line. look for the LA morgue interview. this guy is somethin else. mark, trust me on this one. i love RVD, but Defalco can blow goats

Re: REVIEW: They Still Call Me Bruce (1987)

what great memories. my dad found this for me at the local ma and pop video joint when i was a kid (dad knew how to shut me up while he caught up with work on the weekends.....any video with a monster or guys in martial art poses generally led him to rent them for me...he considers it a blessing). i loved this film simply because of mr. yune. it's funny. being so y9oung at the time, i did adhere to the stereotypes presented in the film, but i never felt that they were negative (and im not talking about the "no tickey no washy" stuff, just how every asian knew martial arts). if anything i respected asian culture even more. it wasnt until i was older that i realized the message he was trying to convey in the two films...which led me to appreciate it all the more. something i hope to show my kids.

and did you guys know that johnny yune was a helluva Yiddish Crooner? no joke!

Re: Jackie Chan: ‘It was a mistake to make ‘Drunken Master”

you have some very valid points there, my friend. again, i don't think mark is attacking JC. it is obvious here that he is aggravated with JC's past public remarks. I always rooted for the good guy....because he was good...and he stood up for the opressed (or he himself was opressed). If anything, these films solidified the values that were already installed by my parents. A basic morality play if you will.

So, regardless of the level of violence portrayed in the films, i knew not to hit someone, but i knew who to root for. In the case of Drunken Master, well i knew i couldn't drink at an early age, and as i grew older, i learned that alchohol really screws up your fighting ability...so no harm no foul. i rooted for jackie not because he was drinking, but because he wanted to save his father from the evil HJL...which was the right thing to do.

I see what jackie means. he is an international icon of family entertainment...in which originally he was an icon of action and ass-kickery. but he should also take in to regard the millions of youths who have watched these films and have strived to do what is right, thanks to his cinematic examples.

Re: ‘Five Venoms’ action director jailed

Leung Ting is seriously a wanker

Re: REVIEW: Karate Warrior 2 (1988)

damn italian AKA'S! can't keep track of 'em!

Re: REVIEW: Karate Warrior 2 (1988)

didnt umberto lenzi direct the first one?

Re: REVIEW: Fifth Commandment, The (2008)

truth be told, again speaking as a retailer, it caters more to the hollywood martial art crowd (ie the segals and the dammes). to the average viewer, the film delivers the action promised. to the hollywood MA fans, it has the goods in part. to the hardened MA nerds like myself, it is a bit of a letdown, however, i wouldn't go as far to say that the film is not good. I do agree it could have been better given the talent involved. The film has done quite well, given the box art and such, but i don't think it will stand out as a dvd to own after viewing. i play it in the store on weekends and it rents out, but I get the feeling that it would not do as well if i don't play it.

I got the movie about a little less than a year ago from a friend. it has been floating around the bootleg circuit for about that amount of time, and it did not appear to be a screener copy (i don't get screeners from companies that much any more do to bootlegging. usually now it's only the b titles, but even then companies are leery as many bootleggers are passing them off as "movies that haven't hit the theaters yet", like they are getting this great flick...hell if there is a copy...there is sure to be a bootleg...no matter what it is). i don't know how long this movie had been shelved. it's a shame though because i think Yune has the talent to go pretty far

Re: REVIEW: Big Stan (2007)

seriously.....i had a helluva lotta fun watching this....and seeing dan inosanto as the knife weilding asian chef.....now that's comedy!

Re: Quentin Tarantino’s top 20 films since 1992

mark, i think the reason he chose the host is simply because he needed to find a film that also represented the giant monster genre. he kinda touched all the bases in regards to his influences (meaning films in genres he likes made in the last 17 years), and kaiju is one of them. the host is an awesome monster movie

Re: First video of Randy Couture in ‘Expendables’

HELL YEAH NOG!!
