It sounds like you're simply against the outcome, not the actual process. The upzoning of Divis and Fillmore (which I support because I believe in actual solutions to the lack of housing, not protecting NIMBY property values) went through a months long process of review and public hearings before being unanimously voted on. Hoodline even reported on the proposed change last April. That is, in fact, exactly how the democratic process works. Just because you disagree doesn't mean the process was "secretive".

Of course, activists like "Affordable" Divis don't have any actual solutions, they just have reactionary, uninformed yelling.

Again, I don't entirely agree with Breed's tenure but I appreciate her willingness to show some leadership on the single most pressing issue facing the city today.

If "Affordable" Divis is any indication, Preston would be a pretty terrible supervisor. I would say Breed's tenure has been mixed but I appreciate her leadership on bringing more density to Western Addition.

This is concern trolling. You want to help people, advocate for more housing at all levels, plain and simple. Advocate for more density, not parrot lies about neighborhood character and displacement.

This mentality that "we're full, sorry anyone who wants to move here after I got in" is just so antithetical to everything a supposedly progressive place like San Francisco should stand for. It sounds more in line with chants I'd expect to hear at a Trump rally.

Worse, this just plays right into the hands of NIMBYs who are doing everything they can to stop new development so that the value of their homes stays sky high (and, thanks to the dreadful Prop 13, their contribution back to their community remains minimal). You're not empathizing with the plight of displaced people, you're helping old, rich, white people get richer.

As I understand it, it's to keep someone who owns a building with rent-controlled units from Ellis-evicting all the residents, selling the building and building a taller building in its place. Not perfect but an ok compromise, I'd say.
