Not syncing with Garmin Connect. Didn’t add meal info to diary for a couple meals. Deleted app, reinstalled on phone, now can’t log in at all. Get a server error. I have a lot of history on here, but I guess I’ll start over with some other app. Tried Noom, but the psycho babble and the cost was outrageous.

Re: US earthlink

Down in Michigan

Re: A Mirrorless Affair Gone Wrong: A Cautionary Love Story

I love my NEX-7 for its portability, small size, great image capabilities and weight (or lack of it). But I have a difficult time seeing through the EVF with glasses, so it's always a hassle trying to get a clear focus. Sometimes I miss. Even with focus-peaking, it's a crap shoot when I'm hot, tired, sweaty. I miss more shots with the small camera than I do with the Canon. And lens selection for Sony E-Mount still isn't stellar. But my Canon just keeps plugging along. Very dependable system.

Re: Will the Real Landscape Photography Please Stand Up?

Hey MH!

I started shooting landscapes when I was young, because I enjoyed being in a beautiful place and wanted to capture the memory. Then I started shooting landscapes professionally, and came to the same realization as the author of this post. Now I go to beautiful places to enjoy them. I tell people that when I was in Page, Arizona, near Antelope Canyon, that I chose to visit the workings of the Glen Canyon Dam rather than go stand in the Canyon with a bunch of other photo tourists shooting images while the Indian guide threw dust in the air. The engineering marvel a few miles away has much more significance to our culture than Antelope Canyon -- read Marc Reiser's "Cadillac Desert" or "Colossus" to understand.

Re: Will the Real Landscape Photography Please Stand Up?

Nice article. Same reason I stopped chasing the elusive landscape in favor of a more personal vision. I enjoy shooting those wonderful pics same as everyone else, but it's more recreation for me now.

Re: Canon 5Ds Leaked! I had run a roll when I first got my new 9890, and found that 30" prints were shrinking 1/2"! After doing some research on the interwebz, found that the newer prints have a "Canvas" setting in the print driver.
Although BC recommends using "Radiant Watercolor" as the media type, using "Canvas" will eliminate the shrinkage problem while printing. I ran several new prints on Lyve and on Chromata, and found that 30" = 30", not 29.5". Older printers allowed you to change a setting in the driver to compensate for thicker media (paper feed +/- 70), but this setting has no effect with the newer printers. Epson also has included two premium canvas settings: Premium Gloss and Premium Matte. I haven't tested these yet, but I would assume that the feed compensation is similar to the straight canvas setting. Now to test for shrinkage after coating. Many printers have experienced vertical shrinkage after coating, but I don't believe it is on the order of .5" per 2.5'!

Re: 2011 Lawton Oklahoma Arts For All Festival This Weekend

Have a great show, Matt! Susan Scheirbeck started and ran the best climbing school / guide service in the Black Hills, climbing in the Needles and Devils Tower. My cousin HJ and Susan dragged me and my wife up a couple of easy routes in the Needles, and we climb every summer, & whenever we can. Both HJ and Susan stressed the basics: safety, harness, belay and voice commands, so that even without formal training, we felt confident in our first moves on the rock.

Although Susan is no longer associated with Sylvan Rocks (http://www.sylvanrocks.com), the folks that took over the business from her run a very tight ship. Most summer weekends you can find them with their climbing trailer, based at Sylvan Lake up in the Needles. Lindsay Stephens, who guides with Sylvan Rocks, has written a definitive guide to the Conn routes in the Needles. Peter Lev has guided with Exum Mt. in the Tetons and now resides in the northern Hills. Climbing in the Cathedral Spires and around Sylvan Lake is one of the most beautiful climbing experiences you'll have.

Re: 13 year old climber boy

That's Sawyer, Charlie's kid.
