It's amazing that you say that Larsson "rise[s] above party politics" when the only reason that he's on the ballot is because of his inside support from the 45th Dems!!! He threw himself under the bus to oppose Jane Hague as a write-in (and I voted for him then) but he has absolutely no standing as a "stand-up guy" for the interests of Kirkland.

Do any Reporter readers attend the 4th of July fireworks? Attend the parade? Come downtown Kirkland for the winter tree lighting?

For many years my wife and I have been volunteering for community projects in downtown Kirkland. In the spring we help out at the “Clean Sweep” that pulls weeds and picks up trash in the downtown core. During the rain and bluster at this time of year there is the drive to put lights and seasonal decorations around Kirkland. Of course, we’re always helping during the July 4th period with volunteer duties surrounding the parade and the fireworks.

At each of these events we encounter Penny Sweet. She’s organizing volunteers, or talking local businesses into donating services or equipment. She also gets her hands dirty when it comes to grubbing out weeds or stringing the lights. Ms. Sweet is not just behind the scene; she’s in the street, rain or shine.

I want to point out that I’ve never seen her current election opponent (Brad Larsson) involved in any of these hands-on projects.

Mr. Larsson, come on down and earn your right to claim Kirkland as a priority!!!

I just remembered that when you ran against Joan McBride for a seat on the Kirkland City Council (twice?) you were very soundly trounced. Might there be a teensy, weensy bit of left over bad feelings here? Well, I wouldn't blame you for harboring such feelings since the convoluted and ill-thought-out ideas that you wrote above haven't changed a whit since your humiliating defeats!!

Really, you have to stop just making up "facts." And, calling people "liars" with absolutely no reason really isn't politic (or is it just your peculiar brand of "politics?"). Just because they don't agree with your warped Libertarian views doesn't make them liars.

Calling your opponents "socialists" without any understanding of the term doesn't do you any good either. Socialists favor the public ownership of the means of production. Is that really what you think that Joan McBride favors?

What a ridiculous thing to say in relation to Ms. McBride (or any other councilperson) -- "When their savings are gone [seniors], they have to sell their homes or are forced to pay the exorbitant cost of a reverse mortgage." Prove it in relation to Joan McBride.

Your hot air is spread over every blog and letter forum in Kirkland but I'm sure that our local citizenry have written you off as a mean, self serving blowhard.

Ms. McBride is (and will be) one of Kirkland's outstanding public servants.

The article that the Reporter printed in regards Mr. Hodgson's run for re-election appears to be nothing more than a re-print of his press release. There is no byline. Even though Mr. Hodgson was involved in some very contentious issues recently none of these are mentioned in this article. Please, if the Reporter wants to print a self-laudatory press release they should label it as such.
