This Ciara album cannot be qualitatively proven to be more worthwhile than this Radiohead album - it's up to the listener's personal sensibilities, influences, preferences, reasons for listening to music, et al but a lot of people don't seem to get this; hence one of my floormates telling me he respects my taste less because I admitted to not liking OK Computer, without an ounce of sarcasm. Tom Ewing wrote a long time ago on his Tumblr that the more reasons you acknowledge music can be made for (critical approval, dance floor jamming, money-making scheme, whatever) the more kinds of music you're able to enjoy...and I think a lot of people who would claim that Radiohead or The Beatles or MGMT or Britney Spears are "objectively good" are people who have a clear idea in their mind of the "right way" to make music. Or, how I felt at 15 when I was just listening to classic rock and emo.

Re: nicholas jackson

I disagree, jerk! Every theme is reduced to its simplest interpretation. Why are Jamal and Latika in love? Because they're in love. Why is Jamal's brother a bad guy? Because he's bad. Boyle creates characterization out of thin air, justifying nothing but telling the audience what to think, and of course, the audience buys it because they're stupid. Boyle's an effective director with his slambang cuts and frenetic chase sequences, but it's used to push sappy dialogue and trite non-issues. Where's the social commentary? Where's the religious commentary? So much potential to say something, and all we have is a fairytale romance crafted for 8-year olds. Yup, that's the Academy Awards.

Re: offnotesnotes - I’ve a grammatical question.
