You can listen to the same regurgitated songs about drugs and hipster girls if you want. His depth as a songwriter is nothing compared to The-Dream. Hell, he can't even fuck with Frank Ocean when it comes to songwriting.

And no, I didn't like the song with him & Mariah. Why are you so obsessed with it? lawls. I'm not speaking of him being good in the past, I'm speaking of him being good RIGHT NOW.

You're obviously a trend-loving idiot though, who cares about old niggas vs. new niggas. It's about the music. Only difference is the new niggas have too many dickriders like you who can't see music objectively.

Re: UPDATE: The Weeknd responds to The-Dream

The Weeknd is NOT doing his own thing better than him. House of Balloons is AMAZING, but Thursday and Echoes of Silence are pretty ehh. The-Dream consistently drops hot songs. (Well, his last album was average, but 1977 was raw as fuck)
As far as being a better songwriter, that's pretty laughable too. He's been writing hits waaay before The Weeknd was relevant.

This makes it sound like I'm picking sides though. Both these niggas need to stop bitching and just make some good music.

Re: How would you change Amazon's Kindle Fire?

Where did @Peter Anderson say anything about an iPad? That (hip-hop/rap) shit sounds nice on a blog, but in reality hip-hop is an all encompassing genre, with sub-genres.

Drake's been hip-hop ever since I first listened to him, on tracks with Phonte and Elzhi, but just because he's gone platinum and harmonizes on some hooks he's no longer that? Gtfo. It's actually Bruce Ratner and his development group (that Jay's a part of) that planned the move to Brooklyn in 2004. Mikhail THEN bought half of the project in '09 after buying a controlling interest. It probably would've happened with or without him.

Re: Lupe Fiasco featuring MDMA – I Don’t Wanna Care Right Now

Yeah, Africa could really use those one or two bottles of water. He won with Shaq in his 3rd season, but his 2nd season (before Shaq came) he went to the EC Finals and lost against the Pistons, who won it all the year before.

You are right in that Cleveland took out the Pistons, which was huge. Then the next season they only went 45-37, and the year after that the Magic beat them in 6 in the EC Finals. Then the Celtics beat them the next year in 6 games (though the Cavs should've won being up 2-1).

That's why they made such a big deal about him beating the Celtics this past summer, because he never really HAS come that close. Boston's been a thorn in his side.

And man, this discussion makes me miss the NBA! lol. Fucking lockout.

Re: Nike LeBron 9 Officially Unveiled

To be fair Melo was playing in the West with perennial great teams like the Spurs (who swept LeBron in the Finals) and Lakers. Not like getting out of the West is the easiest. And as soon as the East got stronger with Boston's signings, LeBron couldn't get out of there until he got more help.

Numbers may not lie, but they don't always tell the whole truth.

Re: Lil Wayne featuring Jadakiss & Drake – It’s Good

Well Jay really doesn't call out names either, so I guess they're in the same boat.

Re: Celebrity Rewind: Jay-Z Premiers “Izzo” in Air Jordan 5 White/Black-Red

Damn son, you sound super mad.

1) People saying Jay bites Biggie are idiots. As if Jay's whole catalogue are Big lines. Jay spits Biggie lines because that was his nigga.
2) That isn't a FACT. Especially when you think, "hmm, where are those niggas now?"
3) Nas is the most hypocritical rapper, how can he talk about someone's misogynous lyrics. Ha.
4) And you think Jay-Z hasn't influenced some rappers? How is that even a diss at Jay? O_o
5) I suppose he should, considering it was Eminem's song at first. And people talk as if Jay's verse was wack. Matter of fact, he didn't even outshine him, only to people who mistake a fancy rhyme scheme for actually content. Listen to the words and not the monosyllabic flow.
6) ACTUALLY, most of the artists back then were pretty big. Dipset, Beanie Sigel, they were stars.
7) Again, is this an actual diss to Jay, or just a nigga upping his borough over another?
8) You're speaking like Jay told Ski Beatz to sample this nigga's name. Though I will say, Jay was trying to make his own "Illmatic".
9) Not a fact, sounds like some opinions to me.
10) Yeah, because EVERY Jay-Z song is about how much money he has. As if he's never written a song about his actual life. As if having money and writing about it is bad, because I mean ... that's not real. Most of Nas' so called "knowledge" is way off too, he's a pseudo-intellectual.
11) Funny line. +1
12) Why is Nas so mad about that? You wanna know what KRS thinks about Jay-Z naming his album Blueprint? "you can only look at that as respect in hip-hop and it actually signifies the unity of hip-hop all together"
13) Calling someone ugly is an elementary diss. Fact? Well, sure, we know Jay is ugly. Except Beyonce. -5 for Nas.
14) Jay has waaaay more complete bodies of work than Beanie. In no way is Beans a better rapper than Jay, that's Nas overreaching.
15) Sorry kid.

Re: Celebrity Rewind: Jay-Z Premiers “Izzo” in Air Jordan 5 White/Black-Red

The whole 3rd verse is like fact after fact. From Nas modeling for Karl Kani, to Nas not getting paid for his sample ("I know who I paid God, Serchlite Publishing").

But you're right, It Was Written was just as good as Illmatic. I actually like it more. Too bad I wasn't talking about that and was talking about Ether v. Takeover.
