The Weeknd is NOT doing his own thing better than him. House of Balloons is AMAZING, but Thursday and Echoes of Silence are pretty ehh. The-Dream consistently drops hot songs. (Well, his last album was average, but 1977 was raw as fuck)
As far as being a better songwriter, that's pretty laughable too. He's been writing hits waaay before The Weeknd was relevant.

This makes it sound like I'm picking sides though. Both these niggas need to stop bitching and just make some good music.

IMO ( meaning you don't have to agree), this is the best concert footage video I've seen. Especially since I didn't get the chance to actually see them live. The kaleidoscope effect makes it pretty raw.

The only differences between hip-hop and rap are the fact that there are elitists who don't want there to be someone like Drake in their group. That (hip-hop/rap) shit sounds nice on a blog, but in reality hip-hop is an all encompassing genre, with sub-genres.

Drake's been hip-hop ever since I first listened to him, on tracks with Phonte and Elzhi, but just because he's gone platinum and harmonizes on some hooks he's no longer that? Gtfo. Explain that to yourself.

Jay talked about the Nets going to Brooklyn before Mikhail Prokhorov was ever in the picture. It's actually Bruce Ratner and his development group (that Jay's a part of) that planned the move to Brooklyn in 2004. Mikhail THEN bought half of the project in '09 after buying a controlling interest. It probably would've happened with or without him.

Saying Wade never got far until Shaq isn't true. He won with Shaq in his 3rd season, but his 2nd season (before Shaq came) he went to the EC Finals and lost against the Pistons, who won it all the year before.

You are right in that Cleveland took out the Pistons, which was huge. Then the next season they only went 45-37, and the year after that the Magic beat them in 6 in the EC Finals. Then the Celtics beat them the next year in 6 games (though the Cavs should've won being up 2-1).

That's why they made such a big deal about him beating the Celtics this past summer, because he never really HAS come that close. Boston's been a thorn in his side.

And man, this discussion makes me miss the NBA! lol. Fucking lockout.

To be fair Melo was playing in the West with perennial great teams like the Spurs (who swept LeBron in the Finals) and Lakers. Not like getting out of the West is the easiest. And as soon as the East got stronger with Boston's signings, LeBron couldn't get out of there until he got more help.
