The third option is over with. I posted the fix for a week before removing the app from the app store. If you email me I can try to help. iExplorer should solve the problem if it's solvable.

I've actually been talking a lot with Listacular's developer. Listacular actually already support TaskPaper formatting in addition to it's own format. And generally support for TaskPaper is going to get much better in the next release.

I'm definitely still doing TaskPaper for Mac. For this code to show up in the app store some other developer is going to have to use it to create a new app and post that to the app store.

If you are interested in getting deeper into Hog Bay stuff I would recommend trying out the FoldingText 1.3 dev version and letting me know how that works for you.

And if you want to get your hands dirty maybe try creating a theme or doing applescript or javascript plugins (though all of those things are pretty undocumented at moment in 1.3 dev). For now I think its best that I try to do all the support and documentation myself. Grey did a great job of it over the last few years, but I kinda lost track of that whole side of the business. I'm finding I kinda enjoy doing all the reading/writing in the forums stuff, it helps remind me that real people are actually using the apps.

Ok, for that case of course just move your files over to the new Folder using Dropbox's Mac or web interface. I know it's a little pain, but there's nothing Jonathan or I could have done to solve that problem. Each version of the app has a different Dropbox API sync key and only access to that particular folder.

I don't want to open source the iOS code. It's old and hasn't aged well. I am going to try to find a way to make it easier for other apps to read/manipulate/filter TaskPaper files. I'm still thinking about how best to do that. (what license, etc)

No. I think best way to help new developer now is use the app, let him know what you like don't like, and leave a positive review if you think he's pointing things in the right direction.

No… I'd welcome that if he was interested, but I haven't talked with him about it. It might work, but it could also get somewhat confusing for him I think to be supporting lots of different formats. TaskPaper's format is pretty simple and easy to past. FoldingText modes aren't rocket science, but they are more complex.

Thanks for your thoughts, but for my particular case I disagree.

That major problem that I'm having is supporting two different platforms. And in particular on iOS I spend 90% of my effort on infrastructure issues… file system browsers, url data sharing schemes, sync, etc. Leaving me little time/energy to actually push the actual app function forward.

OS X is much easier in this regard. You don't need to build the finder from the ground up. You get Dropbox and iCloud sync (and lots of others) for free. For document based productivity apps OS X is a much more mature system.

Also my apps are uniquely designed to work where there's a keyboard. When I work on my OS X apps I feel like I'm doing unique and useful work. When I work on the iOS ones I often felt like I was spending all my time reinventing the wheel to match the other 30 iOS apps that are already doing pretty much the same thing.
