It is a collection of celebrations, holy-resistance, and voices by feminists of faith. Your tweet specified your enneagram 8-ness. As a fellow 8, I check in and know I can "play" directly and honestly w/o filter.

I enjoy theological musings, books you are reading, trends you are noticing in the ecclesiastical circles you are running in. Controversy is fun, sure(!), but not why I want to read your stuff. You can also write a blog post about the incredible Jes and Jim Kast-Keat and our ministries in the Collegiate Church when you come out, I'm just sayin' :).

Peace and Joy, Tony!

Re: Post-Cynical Christianity

While I think there are some who have a gift of satire and reformation many others cross the line of satire into bitting comments that are really nasty. Sometimes I think I'm being funny in a gentle way and it just comes across quite mean. I wish I could do satire well in the spirit of reformation, I can't.

Pastor's hat here: When I see cynical comment after cynical comment I usually think there are a lot of wounds that this person is trying to work through. We all have wounds of some sort. I think sometimes the things I view as bitting cynicism provide comfort to others who think they are alone in their wounds. I've tried to mentally make room for the multiple ways people interact with their spirituality. Then again, I haven't been on end of constant berating.

Tripp's comment seems to sit in a place of truth for me --> "cynicism is antithetical to the practice of Christianity" Then again, I'm not dealing with a crazy amount of wounds that I would need cynicism like maybe some others do.

This from the Pope -->"Never yield to discouragement, do not lose trust, do not allow your hope to be extinguished" This is what I'm talking about and I love that he said this!

Re: A Pastor’s Husband regarding His Pastor

Bless you and your family! I love saying #9!

Our church mission statement has woven #4 into what we are about: doubting & having faith. Yet, Tillich reminds us that doubting is part of faith so really they are of the same thinking.

It's amazing how many pastors will say "I'll pray for you" but then never offer to actually pray with the person right there. I try and pray with people right when they ask.

#5 is probably the hardest one for me. I fight hard for self-care and sometimes am not the best at it. Though today is my day off and it's 3:26 PM and I'm still in my PJ's so I think I'm doing something right on my break today!

Re: Shoopscope: Gay Pride vs. Gay Shame

THIS!! -->It was just this past weekend that it dawned on me: Gay Pride is the opposite of Gay Shame.“Pride” in this sense does not describe superiority, or blindness to others, or lack of humility, or obnoxious arrogance. It is the state where one can laugh, flap their arms, sing, and express joy without paralyzing caution. Being “Pride-ful” is being whole, more fully human, yourself.
I may send this paragraph to a few people who are looking for clarification on Pride and why it's so important to me and others. I understand that paragraph to the core of who I am. Bring out the Gospel choir because I'm ready to sing "Aaamen, Aaaamen, Amen, Amen!"

Bless you, Kevin. xoxo
