2814.. you are mixing up the gap with what actually happened. Shuttle was being wound down well before any president that followed Bush. Tank production and other things could not just be started again no matter who was president. Giving more funding may have helped with Aries I to fly sooner, but we'll never know at this point.
Don't just make stuff up though. Shuttle was dead when Bush won reelection and solidified VSE. That was actually a good thing BTW, but replacing it has been a political fiasco.

You really haven't watched the Vision for Space Exploration speech by Bush. The Shuttle was supposed to be retired ASAP.
Obama cancelled Constellation and Orion was part of that.
If Bush would have fully funded Constellation, there would have been much more progress made before Obama came to office. Plenty of bad policy on both sides.

got ya.. less visible screen area, and distorted. May as well add film grain as well to add even more "picture quality" ;-) Too bad real film is just about dead.

I get that.. but how would it be "better" on a digital camera? I know on film they would actually distort the image to fit on on the 35mm film and then ya need a special lens to project it so they won't look tall and skinny, but that doesn't make it look "better". It just uses all the film frame without cropping so you don't lose quality... but ya don't gain quality.

How does that same kind of lens make a digital image 'better"? It's just aesthetic isn't it?

Widescreen was to bring people to theaters to compete with TV. Now both are in widescreen, I don't see the need to push it any further?

If a movie was shot in 2:35 I don't want it trimmed to 16:9, and I don't want TV shows shot on film in 4:3 cropped to 16:9. However, I'm not getting the point of non 16:9 ratios for new TV shows?

Where and how she beamed out really needs to be answered. This is science fiction not fantasy. So some explanation about where she beamed to is sorely needed.
