Good Q, I assume it is not the shift to AVF but the distance from Vietnam. Interesting recent APSR piece about the influence of draft eligibility and later life attitudes also clouds the mix.

Aye, NC might be "Middle Atlantic" from a nautical perspective, but Arrrrrr!, she not be in cahoots with NJ. Any scheme that makes KY more Southern than NC is an eyebrow raiser.

I have no beef with the poll questions, rather the focus on Ms. White, who was "taught" that she had the wrong position on government redistribution due to this poll, given that she is a beneficiary. Her cognitive dissonance is, in my opinion, not for pollsters or newspapers to correct.

Looks like I have at least two readers; one has alerted me that the graphic is actually "Buch" for Buchanan, which makes the butterfly theme obvious.

When I was in grad school as somebody's RA, this somebody (a real tech genius) asked me to check his email for him, print out the more recent ones, and fax him those. The sad thing is, I did it. At least I continue to get laughs out of it.
