Mark Driscoll isn't a perfect man or a perfect pastor, but he is clearly different from the other men you named. Mark's agenda primarily *is* the truth -- the truth of what Jesus says about himself. You'd have to be a lot closer to Mark than you ostensibly are in order to discern an ulterior motive. Just because not everyone is happy with Mark's methods doesn't mean he's evil. Moreover, publicly impugning Driscoll in this manner may itself actually have the equivalent effect of Satan's intent -- muddying the waters, in this case, with conflict.

I've appreciated your work for many years, Don. In my own small-time way I've defended you against detractors (or those who are simply misinformed, usually the case) just as I've defended Mark Driscoll. But I have to point out: to accuse Mark Driscoll of deceiving people in order to gain personal power for his own use is disingenuous and irresponsible. It's your blog though ... and I'm willing to be wrong.

Re: Ask RideApart: What Is The Best Performance Motorcycle For The Street

That's actually a good question, P. Under pretty strong acceleration, the Ninja 1000 begins to buzz around 6500-ish rpm, and seems to buzz harder as you hold the throttle open. But I haven't accessed that a whole lot yet, especially in top gear. My commute, which is about 12 miles of freeway, I do at 55-75 mph, sometimes 80, which corresponds to around 4500-6500 rpm (I think). I notice the buzz under acceleration when I'm sporting it up, but never notice it on my commutes, probably because I'm operating the motor just shy of any issues. If I commuted at higher speeds, I might be compelled to grab a new sprocket. Although I don't really have a problem day-to-day, riding this bike hard makes my wife's Street Triple feel like butter.

Re: Ask RideApart: What Is The Best Performance Motorcycle For The Street

I really can't think of any downsides, Chris. (Except maybe the eye-roll I get from the "unwashed" when I say I own a Ninja.) The 1000 does everything better than other bikes I've owned, with the exception of the mild off-road capability of the 650 Versys. (This is a trade-off I was willing to make right now.) I've pored over reviews to find a chink in the Ninja 1000's armor, but there isn't one. Certainly Kawasaki could have improved nearly every aspect of the bike a little bit, but then it would be something else ... and it would certainly cost more. After a 650 Versys, a 900 Ducati SS, a 1200 Bandit, a 600 CBR, and both a 700 and an 1100 Sabre, I may have found the "perfect" bike for me. Today., anyway. :-) Happy shopping!

Re: Ask RideApart: What Is The Best Performance Motorcycle For The Street

My 2011 Ninja 1000 was built for what you describe. Shaped like a supersport, but with a more upright riding position. All the power, decent agility, adequate wind/weather protection, easy to ride around town, fantastic luggage options. Mine for a little over two months, I've ridden it 1500 miles both commuting and strafing ... love, love, love this bike and looking forward to a bunch of thousand-mile weekends next summer!

Re: Riding Skills: How To Safely Handle Decreasing Radius Corners

Trust and obey.

Re: Ask RideApart: First Bike For A Tall Rider And Motorcycle Dash Cams

See my reply above in regards to your question, HoldenL. I am, at five-ten, by no means tall. Sorry. I totally was thinking frame height ... not leg and torso length. So my suggestion might be lost to cramped legs and buffeting helmet! Still a fun bike though if you can work those other things out. Triumph's Tiger 800 may be the way to go -- a bit more room, perhaps?. My wife rides a 2012 Street Triple (which is short and cramped, but I love to ride it!) and we both dig that 3-cylinder screamfest.

Re: Ask RideApart: First Bike For A Tall Rider And Motorcycle Dash Cams

Best beginner bike for a tall rider may be a Kawasaki Versys. Cheap, in case you find out you hate riding. Tall, because you are. Medium in it's power delivery, because you are new at this. Fun, because you'll want to enjoy the ride. I have one after riding a dozen other street bikes over 20+ years and I love it.

Re: David Wells on how we put ourselves in place of the Bible (or, evangelical paganism)

I'd love to hear David say that in his voice. When I write letters I rarely script each one exactly like the other -- they do play off each other. A lower case d in front of a lower case r looks different than a lower case d in front of, say, a lower case i, which terminates in a different place. I guess that why good script-like fonts are hard to come by. Yours is good.

Re: Setlist

Great show guys!
