Ugh, just got done reading the ShareAmerica post. Love how it's couched in a kind of destiny: Marjorie Merriweather Post's dream is realized now that Mar-A-Lago is used as a presidential retreat. This is what she wanted! BUT IT'S NOT. it's a private business owned by the president. (Whither Camp David? To wither.)

Maybe your confusion is this: the $300 travel credit is not given to you at a fixed point in the year. It's automatically given to you as you spend, reimbursing individual travel purchases as you make them, up to a maximum of $300 that resets at the end of the calendar year (or technically at your December statement date). So in your example, if you happen to hit the 2017 travel credit max in January, your next travel credits would be available the next calendar year in January 2018.

I thought this was a good passage near the end of the decision that gets at it, that all she is asked to do as a clerk is certify that the couple meets the legal requirements, and no more:

"Davis again argues that the Beshear directive substantially burdens her religious freedom without serving a compelling state interest. The record in this case suggests that the burden is more slight. As the Court has already pointed out, Davis is simply being asked to signify that couples meet the legal requirements to marry. The State is not asking her to condone same-sex unions on moral or religious grounds, nor is it restricting her from engaging in a variety of religious activities. Davis remains free to practice her Apostolic Christian beliefs. She may continue to attend church twice a week, participate in Bible Study and minister to female inmates at the Rowan County Jail. She is even free to believe that marriage is a union between one man and one woman, as many Americans do. However, her religious convictions cannot excuse her from performing the duties that she took an oath to perform as Rowan County Clerk. The Court therefore concludes that Davis is unlikely to suffer a violation of her free exercise rights under Kentucky Constitution § 5."

Actually, there were two same-sex couples last night on the Giants kiss cam, and my partner and I were surprised and delighted to be one of them. Granted, it was Giants LGBT night, so who knows if the same-sex smooching is a one-off or if they plan to be more inclusive throughout the season.

I know exactly what you mean. Now and then, I'll think, darn I can't distill my thoughts down to 140 characters, and then I remember, oh yeah, I don't have to! I have this thing called a blog! Any of these outlets (Twitter, Facebook, blogs, etc.) are whatever you make them of course, but I too want to get back into putting longer stuff on my blog (and not self-imposing any pressure to write big ol' fully formed essays or anything) instead of relying on Twitter.
