wake up! all journalism is biased and you should always ask what facts are they leaving out.... take NBC for example, they would never overtly do what Lindsay did, but this is how they do it... much more covert, with much more serious consequences:

I'd much rather see athletes moved to protest during the games themselves. Don't think it does the world any good for the U.S. as a nation to boycott, but if some of the participants are moved to express their opinions during the games, than good for them. Their is no more isolated and less opinionated group that athletes (at least what they are willing to express publicly), and that is a shame. Where is the Muhammad Ali of today? I know there can only be one Ali, but still, it would be nice to know that these folks had something on their minds besides winning rings. Not to mention, I think it would make the competition that much more exciting.

The fundamental difference is that the inept contractor isn't denied the right to know what he's charged with, denied the right to an attorney, and held indefinitely without access to habeas corpus if the govt can't prove their case. For better or for worse the story is news because the U.S. Government is investigating him and made the information public. While we may be drawing our own conclusions, our conclusions are based on something - and we are not the jury, and this is not a court of law. The contractor has not been denied due process. The Gitmo detainees have been, as a matter of policy, and that is despicable. You can call us despicable too if you want for drawing conclusions based on public facts, but we are not denying anyone their liberty (and liberty doesn't mean freedom, it means due process). And that is a HUGE difference I think.

Amazing that you would characterize demanding due process for people being being detained for years as giving the benefit of the doubt to terrorists. Does that make us unpatriotic too? What's next, you're going to tell us that Lindsay should be wearing an American flag pin on her lapel?

You hit the nail on the head. Not to mention he continues to misspeak about a part of the world that our current administration has consistently failed to understand. Also, it seems like a gross desire (not just John McCain's) to reduce the entire Middle East into those who are with us and against. It used to be that the enemy of my enemy was my friend, but in Iran and Al Qaeda's case - we seem to want it the other way.

it's a sad world were people need "credibility" to ask people a question as general as what do you think of dr. king's legacy. i would also argue that these folks on the street have just as much (or maybe more) relevance than the pompous stuffed shirts whose opinions are constantly regurgitated during the main stream news cycle. a piece like today's is citizen journalism at it's very best - and thankfully cbs has the foresight to let us produce it!
