Hey! I tell you what would be great, I'm going to be giving my book away for a 24 hour period (Kindle) to anyone who it might benefit. The idea of the book is to help leaders think like entrepreneurs, and I've had a lot of people who have read it say it's helping them during this crisis. So we're going to give it away in the hopes that it can help. When that happens, if you'd be willing to share the link to your community, that would be terrific!

So, disclaimer, we don't share individual salaries, but we do share total salaries and all other expenses. And we're an LLC.

There is so much fear in sharing numbers, and I get that. I used to be that way. But then I realized, everything is better if you share your finances, show your team members how they can positively affect those numbers, and give them a chance to do that (listen to them, let them act, etc). And anything that a leader *thinks* that their team members might be thinking when they see the finances, I promise that's more tame than what they think when they have to imagine the numbers.

Example, agencies make around 15% profit margin on average. When I first started open book management (maybe 4 years ago) I asked the team how much profit they thought we made. While a few said 2-3% points, many thought it was 40% or more! So here's an example where my team thought we were making tons of cash all the time.

I hope that helps. It's definitely a "you can't put the toothpaste back in" once you do this, but as long as you're honest and consistent, it's a huge win and just the right thing to do.

I think that's a really great thought, and good to get ahead of it. I might look at it as a win-win. Perhaps offering a rate reduction with a longer commitment. Something that gives them help with rate and you help with predictability.

I really don’t use any tools. I do use snooze in gmail (my email is done through web-based gmail and the gmail app on android) but not that often. It’s kind of a crutch to use it as you’re not really helping the problem that much.

For me it’s really just about staying on top of it and not letting it build up that much. I don’t use folders at all, I simply archive when I’m done with an email. Moving emails into folders isn’t really solving the problem either.
