There's a Sappo for Mayor sign back in the Popeye's Comic Club run. I'm guessing Sappo is the Sweethaven mayor.

Matey was a character on the Popeye radio show, 1935 to 1937. Mary Ann was in the comic strip in 1932.

Myrtle Sappo, wife of John Sappo> They were the protagonists of the strip named "The Five-Ffteen" or "On the 5:15" or "Sappo" or "Married Life", depending on which newspaper was running it.

Just found another Easter egg. Across the street is 'ERCER MUSIC', apparently a tribute to Jack Mercer, who voiced Popeye in the old cartoons.

Segar died on October 13, 1938, 1 1/2 months after this strip was published.

This is the first TT strip that doesn't have Segar's signature after he became ill. It's also the final strip in the last Fantagraphics book reprinting Segar's Popeye. Here's hoping that CK will continue reprinting this story until the end.

We don't really know. Segar had assistants, such as Bud Sagendorf. But as far as we know, his assistants only worked on the Sappo strip and other things, like coloring books, toys, and advertising art.

Donnie, i have the last Segar-signed Popeye as August 27, Here's hoping that Comics Kingdom will at least run the story to the end. I don't think that "King Swee'pea" has ever been reprinted in full.

Actually, we are NOT proud of making it harder to vote. Registering 22 days in advance is ridiculous, especially when some states allow same day registration. The excuse for absentee voting is ridiculous too. If i want to vote in advance so i don't have to deal with hour long lines on a work day, that should be reason enough.
