Hi Melissa! The issue of 'realness' is something that I have struggled with myself as a writer. But my feelings shifted after I read Nora Ephron's Heartburn and was really struck by it, especially the introduction, in which she muses on the issue of writing what's real to you, rather than writing to match other people's expectations or your anticipation of how they might react. A short, funny, sad, wonderful book, if you've not read it already. Warm wishes, Jean

The comments ARE interesting -- I think the ones I like best are those that point out I could have tried to engage the father and daughter in some pleasant chat to help diffuse the situation/lighten the mood without seeming to be judgemental or interfering. I will definitely do that next time!

Definitely! I go to the Life Centre on Essex Road -- so it's about as far west as East London gets, but anyway, it's excellent. New joiners get 20 days of yoga for £20, too, which was enough to get me hooked. http://www.thelifecentre.co...

I don't suggest that we turn off our critical faculties, but this blog post is centrally about her achievement of becoming the first female Prime Minister of Australia. So asking what I'd think fo her if she was male is a bit moot. She isn't.
