Haven't got time to check out other clients yet. To reply, I sometimes even use the standard Twitter site on my phone. I always need to see if something new has come up.
@jclont

Re: Here's my biggest secret. I noticed that almost all young animals are cute - puppies, kittens, foal, lambs, and so on. Their big dark eyes make us melt. It is easy to explain. We have been evolutionary programmed (or created by our Creator, if you like - that's the same thing to me) to take care of babies and little children. A herd of elephants will keep the little ones in the center of the group, shielded from any danger. A parent bird that sees its nestling - or any nestling - stretch its beak open, will experience the unstoppable urge to fill it with caterpillars and other bird food.

The basic rule of the jungle says that the strongest will survive and the stronger eat the weaker. However, an exception was built into that rule, that makes us want to take care of little creatures, especially if they are soft and cuddly and have big eyes. Otherwise, the babies could impossibly survive and the species soon be extinct.

I think that these instincts are so strong, that not only puppies and babies, but everything miniature evokes a sense of cuteness.

But maybe you just asked a rhetorical question.

Re: Twitter Rolls Out New Interface for All

The new search function is nice, but the search results only contain the tweets in one language. In my case, I only get results in English. Perhaps you can chance that somehow, but I have not seen an option to switch languages or choose 'all languages', like in the normal search page.

Re: I need 2 roommates

I must say, this is the most welcoming 'rooms available' announcement I've ever seen. (Except for the throat-slitting part perhaps, but who would bother about such a detail)

Re: Entertaining the internet, A balloon at a free-range chicken farm

Even though she avoids posting personal information like addresses and so on, one can easily find out from her posts what what university she attends, what she majors in, and at what time of night she leaves the campus library, for instance.
I think personal security can be a reason to make a twitter account private. People can still follow her, but she needs to click the Accept button first.

Re: Gender and Race at the U of A IDEAfest

Thanks ivh and Derek for the definition of POC. I heard the name Steve Jobs before. Wasn't he an executive of Apple? I am getting curious now. I'll try to find out what is the news about him. I should be able to find something on Google News.

Re: A story unfolds on Twitter (Scripting News)

This is one of the fascinating things about Twitter.
I will not soon forget a tweet that went something like "The man had a million stories, but right now I can't remember them - Jim Long (1936-2008)" (details changed for privacy). Looking at her earlier tweets of that day, I saw a day that began like an ordinary day - a business trip by car. Then came the tweet "X just called, dad got critical", and then just 1 or 2 tweets about her visit to her father in hospital.

In the same week, I saw someone share the events surrounding a child being born.

The real-time aspect of twitter is very special. Two months ago, I posted a tweet about 5 recent tweets (from 3 different people): "Lovers' quarrel... friend stepping in to mediate... "super hot" sex... and a bite to eat. I could follow it all on Twitter."

Re: 10 Bastardly Break-Up’s

How awful. Maybe these methods can make the other hate you and more quickly get over you, but actions like this might also make you hate yourself. And how in the world would you get over yourself?
