This needs to happen if Elon's vision of a fleet of robo-taxis is to become a reality. Otherwise they'd be constantly breaking down. Also you don't expect a newish 50000-mile car to suddenly brick while you're on a road trip.

It would cost a lot less than your guess. abetterrouteplanner.com shows a round trip would be $115. That would be in a Tesla Model 3 long range starting at 90% charge and ending at 15%. At the Nevada time-of-use rate of 5 cents per kWh, filling up after the trip would cost another $3.

The time spent charging can be under 10% of the trip if you leave with a full charge and stay overnight at either a destination charger equipped hotel, or a campground. But these guys show that even with zero planning it's no more than 15%.

Isn't the moment arm the actual distance from the node, not just the horizontal distance? That is, if you take the sum of the moments about node 7 (the last calculation), isn't it -5 sqrt(10) −(5 sqrt(10) m)(7.5 kN)+(5 m)F11 = 0? That gives F11 = 23.7 kN (not -22.5). In magnitude this is not a serious error, but the sign is wrong, at least if you take the force to be in the positive x direction. Similarly, the signs are wrong on F10 and F13, if you take their directions as drawn on the diagram to be positive.

Automating things enables new uses. In this particular situation, a smartphone app would enable you to use many more power levels and be able to turn the cooktop on or off on a schedule. If well-designed, it would be easier to use than the controls on the device itself. Here are some usage scenarios: 1. Cook breakfast by programming your phone to turn on the cooktop just before you awaken; 2. Enable your wheelchair-bound elderly relative to eat warm food. If he's unable to use a smartphone himself (can't see well, shaky hands, hard for him to learn new things), you can do it for him remotely. Then he won't burn the pot. Plus you can put the cooktop low so he doesn't have to get up out of his wheelchair. 3. If you have an irregular schedule and despite your health and pocketbook find yourself stopping off for fast food because you're starving, you can prepare a meal beforehand and turn on the cooktop as you're leaving work.

It seems a little hacking with a microprocessor would enable many power levels. Add a wifi chip, and you could control the cooktop with your smartphone. Easier said than done of course, but certainly not impossible.

Card counting does not win every time. It does not rig anything.

Card counting is not illegal.

There are many technical mistakes. In particular, you should split 8's against a 10, though there's a discussion that ends with Micky Rosa saying you shouldn't.
