It is a very competitive market and I have to give props to Wiggio for its use of SMS. My company also has a web app available for online groups. We're more in the vein of Yahoo Groups, but on steroids, with a unique interface that promotes group activity/productivity and the ability to manage a lot of groups at once. It's called Convos and we already have a number of students and teachers use it for projects and courses.

http://www.convos.com

Re: Adobe’s Cocomo – Build Real-Time Social Applications

Cocomo sounds awesome and I think it brings a lot of validity to the common web collaboration features. It's something my company will be looking at for adding to our web app, Convos.

Re: Collective X re-launches Groupsites: Facebook to Ning’s MySpace

You can count Convos in that "competitive field." We also focus on productivity but include better group/member management features than a lot of other solutions. Our interface uses Adobe Flex / Flash and is modeled like a desktop application rather than scrolling webpages. It's free and we don't serve ads. Our revenue comes from upgrades when people need to create and manage more online groups.

http://www.convos.com
