I'm 29 and I've always called them laptops. I feel that notebook is more of a marketing term, like netbook or ultrabook, which are all types of laptop. But I'd like to hear if there is a real difference in definition!

Re: Worship Leader or Sunday Singer?

The only thing I don't like about the term is that it equates worship with music. As in, the gathering is not worship, and the teaching is not worship. Which isn't really biblical. But "Musical Worship Leader" doesn't roll off the tongue. Music Minister maybe, or even Music Leader. Eh...

But leading the worship is something you actually do. You're the one directing for a few minutes of the worship service. So in that sense, the title seems appropriate. I think it becomes an issue when someone acts more valueable (or entitled) because they "hold" that title (see: "famous worship leader" above).

I don't think "Worship Leader" is biblically inappropriate. Might not be the best term, but until we find a better one, I'll roll with that.

Re: Autism

Just wanted to encourage you in this! Obviously, they do need to be old enough to understand things before we allow them to watch. But we need to have discussions with them when they see things, teaching them what is "normal" to the world and what God's Word says is Truth. If you know those things, you can watch these shows, if you choose, and not be brainwashed.

Now, I don't have kids, so my views may shift once the stork visits my house, but as for my idealistic pre-kid self, that's what I think!

Re: Gay Couples On TV And Your Parenting Decision.

Sheltering children does not help them in the real world. Children are a ton smarter than we give them credit for, so I think we should be as open and honest with them as possible. That means they might see questionable things, but if we've taught them to think for themselves and given them a Biblical foundation, they'll make smart decisions.

I think you need to let them know what's out there without condoning an act. Just because TV show characters engage in "sinful" activities doesn't mean we need to cut it out. If we went that way, we'd never leave our four walls because of all the sin out there. Jesus ate with prostitues and tax collecters, for goodness sake! He never wavered, but He still met them.

Re: Seth Godin Shares “How To Change The System”

Simply put, it's "risky." I actually use UltimateEars, but not the custom stuff. I've used two models of their consumer facing stuff, and I love them. I've got the old version of the SuperFi 600vi, and they work well as IEMs. Don't feel as sturdy as I'd like them, but hey, I can't get everything. All things being equal, I'd buy their customs hands down.

Re: CREATIVE BRAIN FREEZE. Glad you have tackled it.

Those people are trying to purify the church. They just are not doing it *in love*. It's hard to love everyone. That's why we need Jesus to help. All people are God's Creation, and all have strayed (Romans 3:23). The act is bad, but the person still needs Jesus. We would do well to remember that, even when we say that homosexuality is wrong.

Re: is it idolatry? part 1

Wow, that's a really good question. One that I certainly haven't thought of in that way. I think the defense of heterosexuality is definitely something that the church (at least the Western church) has turned into some kind of idol. Disregarding for the moment what we think of homosexuality, I think we've made the issue into some kind of new Crusade.

Re: on baptisms

Not if you were baptized after you first gave your life to Christ, as far as I have seen and been taught.

Re: ctrl + alt + del

Preach that!
