For me a "bit" is funny. But I am using it less. One reason is that I'm much more busy. The other reason is that I'm shifting into FF like the rest of the nerds. The other other reason is that it's harder to use Twitter when it's down.

Re: Is this Rocketboom 2.0? Dick cheese. The name itself is a joke. I just used the same vernacular. Point one.

The video was pretty much Cheese working hard to get people to cut off cameras. Here's what I think happened:

Richard has a contract that probably says, "no video, ever." Well, he performed for a group of videobloggers and media makers. It's like wearing steak shorts to a shark pool. Hilarity ensues.

Like all things on the web, maybe it's nothing. Tempests, tea kettles.

Should I call names? I didn't give up being human or passionate when I took on writing. Bashing your passionate fans is a bad play. If Richard had to communicate a contractual requirement, maybe he could've paused the act, stopped the music, spelled it out, and then let it go from there.

SPITTING on people is certainly not a solution, no matter what.

But again, I saw the video, so you can only take one person's word for another.

The larger point is exceptionally valid. I could probably ruin someone with a little effort, whether or not they deserve it, and that's scary. Then again, the web is fairly transparent, and information CAN be found these days. I consider that to be the measurement/protection for when others do it.

The #1 tech blog often takes swings at people who strangely end up being competitors. CNN craps on McCain. It's all a bunch of subjective moments.

I'm sure to contribute a bit.

Re: The rest of Me

Being that I'm a huge fan of About sections, congratulations. Part of why I can't sleep is that I'm designing a new slide deck to be part of a conversation I'm going to have with IT professionals about all the various things social media is not. I also wrote five or so blog posts. I'm also writing in my book.

In pretty much all those cases, I'm writing to groups of people who will likely find me via the web.

So, to the challenge (and I intend to find my own ways to go along with your schemes, Falls), I add this: find ways to do it in the flesh in local areas, offline, and in face to face ways. Even if we're going to educate people on these new tools for collaboration and communication, we have to work a little extra to put them in the hands of people who can use them.

My first move: next Tuesday, I'm speaking to PR students at Boston University. I'm going to share what I know about PR from the future, so that they can marry that to their traditional learning.

Really great post, mister.
