I've also been working on a little Twitter direct message thingy to allow you to correct your own reviews. It might work something like "d oo5 u Haddock is a band" or "d oo5 u Haddock=band". I think I might prefer your suggestion though.

Re: Out of Five - Conventions

Hmmmmmm, so it is! I've actually got quite a few friends who've got 'em, none of whom are 12 or at school. If you're less inclined to toys there's always E too. Same requirement for adhesive though. The market's already filling up with NFC devices... Nokia seem to have a fairly rocky track record with openness, although separating protocols from the reader is a great step in the right direction. What are the chances of them bringing out something that would work with other devices? Or will that be in the hands of the network providers?

Did you see the Oyster credit card (Barclays?) that came out a few years back? Also interesting - rolling all your payment methods into a single card.

I'm still a bit leery of NFC devices. The potential is incredible but so far the big companies (and countries!) haven't done a particularly good job of protecting their devices:
http://www.engadget.com/200...
http://www.theregister.co.u...

Re: Posts

Heya! I'm running a little thought tool/influence experiment called Elect or not? I'm trying to gently nudge people into thinking about why they vote for who they vote for and hopefully gather some data on the halo effect while I'm at it.

Out of curiosity I just worked out the opinion polls for the top 3 parties based on the results I've had so far and thought I'd share... This is people saying who'd they vote for based on looks alone, without knowing who the candidate is, who they represent or what their policies might be...

Conservatives 32%
Labour 25%
Lib Dems 24%
Other 19%

These numbers don't seem to be too far removed from your own predictions, the YouGov or the Times ones. I've seen less non-coders who are creative techs so I thought Igor just pushed his concept of what a creative tech too far into this 'must be an amazing coder' camp. I really don't buy this.

I look at those schools like the RCA and the concepts coming out and they are mindblowing. Great ideas coupled with people who've made those ideas. That's my own take on what a creative tech is. More of a fusion of art and technology.

But anyway. We could debate this forever.

I'm off to make something. :)

Re: The magic of foursquare discovery, now on your big-screen devices. #new4SQ

I think this is really cool. May I add a feature request for my use case.

I use 4sq explore BEFORE I go places. Because New York is always full if you just turn up. So say I want to go out in the east village and I know I want to eat japanese. I use the mobile app and I set explore to 10km radius and search.

It be really really nice if I could do this on the 4sq website. You kind of have it with the new map on the homepage but you don't have the ability to 'search' using the explore interface - no filters or choices.

So really I'm asking for a way to use explore for a place I'm not at.
