Hi Jeff. It works, but the codebase is very old. There's also an installer now so this isn't really necessary. You should just use your favorite image and install from scratch.

This looks like an ssh error. Try changing permissions on your keyfile.

chmod 0400 id_rsa_mykeyfile

I was thinking knights templar... but I guess you could argue there is a strong swiss/templar relationship. :)

Anyway, I wanted to show it was possible to have the same sort of "add-to" functionality as my.yahoo et others.

Fantastic article. I was thinking about openid integration last night. This was my initial thought as well. However, it was hard to imagine the process used to associate a laconica/microblog profile with one or more openid identities.

I am currently of the mind that there should be some form of registrar. No idea how that idea will fly with federation.

Sorry for the nonsense language... I guess the intellectual property attorneys have had a larger impact than I thought.

We are interested in the content that flows through bit.ly. The first step is to extract the key entities such as people, places etc (mostly proper nouns). After that, you can create indices on that data or on things derived from that data; e.g. places->geocode->geospatial index.

I'm very excited to imagine what people will do with that kind of information. And yes, the API will be fully open and available shortly.

Re tinydb. I think tinydb, blended with bit.ly and a workflow application would make a sensational publishing powerhouse.

Hi Kortina. Love tinydb.

I worked on bit.ly. The data model is actually quite similar to what you described albeit using different technology. We are on the same page here.

However, I think the power of this type of application is in the more complex secondary indices (e.g. geospatial index based on locative entity extraction). What are your thoughts on this type of feature?

P.S. We are also storing content, not just urls. :)
