Maybe he could provide some integrity to TV/radio broadcasts? Which would be much more entertaining than the "Sharks are amazing!" platitudes of Baker, Hahn, etc. Hedican ventures on the edges of truth from time-to-time until Wilson slaps him back in line.

Re:

Opinion: Counties need to lead in reimagining youth justice

Clearly, our communities suffer unintended consequences when we imprison youth rather than intervene and redirect them toward more productive outcomes. Instead of focusing primarily on punishment, what if we (i.e. our community) were to get involved collectively in an honest effort to redirect the youth? What might happen when we show them what's possible with their lives and then provide them with opportunities to achieve their newly realized hopes and dreams? I believe that the majority of juvenile justice involved youth intend to be a "success", but not many of them don't have access to the guidance, support and opportunities required to make it happen. Who is capable of providing this guidance, support, and opportunities? Is it all on the parents, who themselves may not have the knowledge or access themselves? Or might it be...us, the community?

Re:

Opinion: How to make Santa Clara County more effective

I greatly appreciate the clarification of county vs. city roles. I've recently begun engaging with different government and NGO organizations around family and child welfare services in Santa Clara County and am shocked by how disjointed and confusing it is. I wonder how social workers, foster parents, poor families, foster youth, etc. navigate the system.

Re: Brandon Belt's big day can't save Giants at San Diego

Come on "fans", it's 5 out of 162 games. The last time the Giants went 1-4 to start the season was 2012 (2nd world championship). Like the rest of us, these guys also have bad days. I commend Baggarly for being critical of the poor start, however, he's not throwing the entire organization under the bus. Fans are loyal to their team through thick and thin...yes, a 1-4 start with the talent they have is unacceptable and, yes, the Giants need to make adjustments and produce better results. Here's to turning things around over the next 157 games and maybe (if the stars align) we'll be celebrating a 2017 championship.

Re: Want to Go From MBA to CEO? Executives Will Need These Skills in 2039

High performing executives always have, do and will in 2039 demonstrate these skills. Many of today's executives are overly consumed with managing Wall Street and share price (i.e. "the desired effect"). These skills are all about building/running a great company that provides meaningful value to customers (i.e. "the cause of the desired effect").

Re: 1%

Consumer backlash likely to happen in the form of "un-fanning" retailers and other brands who regularly invade a person's personal space on facebook. Think about it...did you create your facebook page with the hope that retailers and brands will push more sh!t at you? Probably not. Could the 1% be much smarter than the lemmings?

Re: Shup The Hell Up You Self-Promoting Turd

Inspiring post indeed!

Marketing is about relationships (i.e. we want more of the right relationships with people who are loyal advocates) and relationships are characterized by how people/groups/brands relate (there's that word again!) to one another.

For a slightly different take on how companies "relate" to consumers, check out Marty Neumeier's illustration at http://digg.com/d1gigD

BTW - enjoyed meeting you Chris at the IMS in SF!
