It IS (was, in London) Anna's birthday, and as soon as she wakes up she's going to see this.... So. Sweet. I might even have a cake made with this photo icing-printed on it some day soon, just because. Don't tell her.

<3<3<3<3 hugssss

Re: http://whileyouweresleeping.tumblr.com/post/389035238

I have a bag phone in the attic. Border's definitely had them for a while, but they were sold out within a couple of hours, when I went back to pick one up for a friend. Yep, you're absolutely right about the credit issue. My post is not at all intended to suggest there is no credit given or some persistent style of anonymity. The point I mean to make is that I personally construct my tweets with the assumption that my name (and thus the integral context for the tweet) is understood no less than at the precise time as the 140 characters I've written being read. In Favit, my tweet is not being read with that assumption in place any longer.

The context that creates (for me) a 'full-package' tweet is thus stripped away in Favit, by design, even if it's fixable after the fact, all of which feels a bit uncomfortable. The decontextualization of tweets is certainly something some people might not mind, and even others might have lots of fun with, like yourself. Not a problem at all--everyone likes different stuff. For me, it's just a shame that the little package I've created via Twitter, with all its integral parts intact as I'd intended, is not the same content that's being distributed in another forum like this.

Anyway, not a huge deal, and not something I'm really worked up over. Just food for thought. As a graphic artist, I tend to think about the integrity of any work that's been created, and the context in which it was meant to be shared. I worry when I see that integrity being shaken, even if the motives are well-placed, as I'm absolutely sure they are with anyone involved with Favit. No question about that, for real. It does make me slightly more uncomfortable when there is no way to opt-out, though. I don't really have an option to make my tweet remain contextualized.

One last analogy:

Johnny Photographer makes tons of his photos available on Flickr, and says they're free to use because he loves sharing his imagery. Someone comes along and makes an app that crops in to the center 50% of each photo and makes it a slideshow for the app viewer. Sure, the crop is probably still pretty, but Johnny Photographer might not be very appreciative of the liberties taken with how his work--which he makes available for free--is viewed. For me, my tweets, when my name is not part of the context, is like that cropping taking place.

Anyway, food for thought, food for thought.
//Jason
