Did you file a police report (by telephone)? The police will notify local pawn shops etc and they'll call in if somebody tries to sell them your bike.

Here's an existing online national (Canadian) bike registry, for registering your bike and/or reporting it stolen.

http://www.bikerevolution.ca/

Re: Evoluent Mouse

I tried the Evoluent mouse briefly but went with another vertical mouse called the Penguin instead. I found it more comfortable because it was bigger and there was a place to rest the side of your hand. The Penguin can be used with either hand (there is a switch to change the direction of the horizontal scroll wheel). Switching hands regularly does seem to help.
http://www.posturite.co.uk

Re: Dine Around Vancouver Contest!

Shaolin Noodle House.

Re: http://danebrown.tumblr.com/post/978552281

There's an Avro Arrow in Kamloops?! Better to talk about "worker cooperatives" or "state ownership of banks" or "non-profit-driven enterprise."

When looking at the historical experiments around the world with socialism / anarchism, the most interesting thing to me is the sheer variety. You get a very different view from the standard "communism vs capitalism" debate.

Interesting anti-co-op op-ed in the Ottawa Citizen that you may have seen:
Economics for Lefties. The main point is that co-ops hire fewer workers because of the incentive to maximize per-worker revenue. (A comment points out that this may not actually be true.)

One of the other comments to the Citizen article points out that there will be some sort of Co-op Congress in Ottawa this June -- might be worth checking out.

Re: Brierwood Design: My Multi-Computer Setup (on the cheap)

Great suggestions here -- I'll have to look into Co-op and Harvest. I have been using Freshbooks for invoicing and time-tracking. It's pretty good, although it doesn't have multi-currency support.

For calendar and contact syncing between multiple macs and google, Spanning Sync might work for you.

What are your thoughts about Basecamp? I've been using Pivotal Tracker, which imitates sticky notes on a whiteboard. So far, it's enough for my purposes.
