oh, and if i remember correctly, what obama said was that no tax money would pay for abortions, unless in cases of rape, incest, or protecting the mother's life.

this leads to a whole other set of implications and consequences, and aside from whether i support this, either dobson knew and left out this detail, or he didn't know enough about it, and i'm not sure which of the two scenarios i'd be more comfortable with.

i don't disagree about the fundamental issues, but i don't like these kinds of essays because too many of his conclusions are falsely drawn or not grounded (i'm sure joe could pick them all out for you); as religious as it claims to be, it's ultimately political; and instead of educating the public, these only stir up anger and resentment in conservatives towards the government by making the government the enemy, rather than suggest a practical way to solve the root of the problems.

a lot of people don't think for themselves, and something like this doesn't help the situation.

would go more into it if i had time, but i hope you know what i mean, and understand that i'm not trying to defend abortion or polygamists. just saying that dobson's (et al) whole tone and method is not conducive to effective action.

hahaha no, it was more cute than sad. it was like she was relating to him the significance of where they were standing! hm. ok, i guess that could be sad. but if you were 6 years old, wouldn't you think it was so cool to watch transformers and get to go where optimus prime stood???

hey tiff, i don't think anyone wants to see you be the "boring-depressed and moodily-emotional suicidal" because that's obviously not a good thing to be.

other people need to be sensitive to your needs as much as you need to be sensitive to theirs.

imagine that you guys speak different languages. of course it will be frustrating to try to communicate. you'll think they're saying certain things to you when they really aren't, and it's the same from their perspective.

would love to talk to you more about it... because i know you are loved and hate to see that you don't think you are. :)

hey joe. i'm really interested in this. i've had the issue of homelessness on my mind for a long time now, and have atually been trying to come up with a list of questions i'd ask them, like "what are some things people think wrongly of you?, what are some things they think rightly? how are you different from everybody else? how are you the same?" i've been wary of trying to do this on my own though, as i'm a girl and sometime it's not that safe to go out alone. if you can make something happen before november (before i leave for shanghai), i'd love to go around with you and take pictures and portraits. one thing though, i think it'd be better not to buy their signs from them. why not just give them the 5? this would save them the trouble of having to find another sign to use...
