I spent much of my life looking inward to be a better person and help others. Many times to my own detriment. I am now 68 years old. Good you discovered this at a younger age.

Re: Livermore Farmers Market ‘Suspended’ After Cookie Vendor Scolded for Handing Our Pride Flags

Hi Dan! So here I go again. There is a vacant property on Laura Street in Davis West that used to be a grocery store of sorts. The City took over that site and it has sat vacant for years now. I'm sure that the City would prefer to sell it to a developer and I heard that someone wanted to do multi-family housing at some point. I do not believe that would be appropriate in a wholly SFR housing area. I am recommending and requesting that the City look into some adjunct park facility for the Davis West community. We have multiple households that stick free-standing basketball hoops onto the sidewalk that block access. I also would like to see either Warden Park or this site be converted into a small dog park with fencing, as we have numerous multi-dog households in the neighborhood that could benefit from such a facility. I've been told to come to the Rec and Park Commission meetings, but I work during the day. Please take this request to the powers that be to improve this run-down area of the City. Davis West is becoming increasingly a SFR rental neighborhood as speculators bought up distressed, foreclosed properties for rental investment. We need some help here from the City to stop the illegal garage conversions and multiple families living in SFR homes as well.

Re: New law allows dogs to dine on restaurant patios

Well I guess you are outnumbered and I will be one of the many dog moms taking their dog children to outdoor patios to eat. In fact, Izzy and I went to Drake's in San Leandro on Saturday for beer and steak sandwich. We had a great time and so did the other folks sitting on the patio loving my dog. In fact, I believe that Izzy is better behaved than most human children I see in restaurants. Does that mean that we should ban ill-behaved humans as well. Works for me! My dog belongs with me and anywhere I go where he is welcome.

Re: San Leandro Police Shoot, Kill Rampaging Pit Bills Loose Around Marina

This is a horrible story and the way it is written continues the bad rap that this breed has. I have the most wonderful, sweetest "pittie mix" who wags his tail at everyone and kisses dogs and humans alike. I am only ASSUMING that is what Izzy is because he has the short coat and strength. Since he was a rescue, I tell everyone that I really don't know what kind of dog he is - BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW. He could easily be 1/2 Boxer since he has such long legs. Any of a number of dog breeds can be trained to be as mean and aggressive as these "dogs" that ran this rampage (e.g, Dobermans, German shepards, Rottweilers and APBTs). Maybe they were some kind of pit mix - what is a fact is that their "owner" acted irresponsibly by deliberately setting them loose in public. It's a shame that so many dogs had to die and people had to get hurt due to some nasty, miserable excuse for a human being. I hope that the owner is found and prosecuted to the fullest for causing this melee. The dogs have already suffered their fate.

Re: New law allows dogs to dine on restaurant patios

It is unfortunate that there is so much misunderstanding as to the potential risk involved in having dogs on outdoor patio areas. I work as a food inspector and unless it is a "food prep" area, there is little to no health risk involved. I'm sure that there are some people that are going to be allergic to dogs as I am allergic to seasonal plants. That doesn't mean that I stay indoors all spring long - I take Allegra. In France, people have allowed dogs INSIDE restaurants forever because they really do believe they are family members. I am a new dog owner and I can attest that my dog is better behaved than 90% of the children I see at restaurants - sad but true. So I am happy that CalCode will now be clarified to allow the owner's of the establishments to determine whether dogs are appropriate in their outdoor patio areas or not.

Re: Bay Bridge to be Renamed for Willie Brown « KRON4

Praising the most corrupt politician in California? The whole idea is to feed the worms and keep them alive to harvest their "castings" (poop). If you are feeding them toxic materials, then you are basically killing them and need to keep replacing the worms. Still don't think we have a heavy metals remediation system that I would ever recommend to anymore here.

Re: Worm Composting Soaks Up Heavy Metals, Remediates Waste

I'm just curious to know if the heavy metals kill the worms and that's why they die.

Re: The Lost City of Cahokia - Arts & Lifestyle - The Atlantic Cities

I've read the book Cahokia and totally believed it. Just ask EDD.

Re: The dirty secrets of performance review

A good example of how companies are simply getting out of performance reviews altogether. I am convinced that it's all politics and how much you've kissed the bosses butt. My former company dispensed with performance reviews altogether and a friend told me they now say they "want to keep it all verbal." This way there is nothing in writing to tie the company into saying they ever thought you did a good job when they decided to let you go.
