My biggest question here is which of these features are tied to iOS 5 on the iPhone 4S vs. just being part of iOS5... If I don't get notification manager and iMessage with the update to my iPhone 4, I'll be VERY disappointed.

Not to mention that cutting iMessage off to only those with the 4S would kill the usefulness of the application right from launch.

I have an issue with this sort of mentality. I agree with you that when you're planning something, it is often better to get started without having an entire plan settled. HOWEVER, doing so without a clear idea of what your framework will be can be very dangerous/disruptive (in a bad way).

For example, starting a business without a plan for profit will fail before it gets off the ground and could pull your personal finances into a blackhole if good planning didn't take place well in advance.

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

I totally agree - Gen Y is absolutely harder to "influence" at least in this sort of point of sale marketing.

However, if we're looking at how to influence Gen Y, perhaps brands should look to our data sources for exerting their influence. Next thing you know, there will be a streak of HP sponsored reviews on Amazon for their new multifunction thus boosting Gen Y's impression of the device.

Again, I feel as though you're channeling a certain amazing speaker that happens to be campaigning for president of the USA.

Your post comes just a week after I flew off the chain about a post someone made that basically was bashing our generation. It makes me livid when older people bash on the "new" simply because they're afraid of what it means...

My business school has a required careers course and the statistic they quote is that 70% of "upper level" positions are sourced through networking or at least helped along by it.

I think you're right - if you're behind in the times, it's near impossible to start now and get the results you're looking for. Networking, in my opinion, is an ongoing effort so start early and network often for best results.

Rinse and repeat as necessary.

That was a really cool video.

Like you, I ended the spot by thinking, "interesting." I think the media bit is an interesting crossover between ad and art. Part of me sees it as a great convergence, but another part thinks it's a sneaky sort of sell out. Since they don't really disclaim that it's an ad but they also have clear placement in the media....

Just my thoughts.

Don't worry about that guy - You learn a lot by reading, obviously more than some people can figure out. I find the biggest benefit of my reading is my superior vocabulary, ability to think intellectually, and the fact that it is the only way I can not think about something that is bothering me haha.

This isn't really super new - any foreigners traveling to the states have had to register their finger prints for the last few years.

Heck, in Heathrow Airport, EVERYONE has to do a photo and full palm print. I don't really think this is a huge deal.

I'm really amazed that you can make those sorts of commutes. I'm facing my first real "serious" internship this summer and I'm facing a an hour each way commute out of the city to the burbs and back - that is daunting me.

I hope that the gas prices haven't killed you with your long commute.

That sounds like a really cool opportunity

I might present the following:

- forge partnerships with new media companies for special indexing e.g. twitter, powne, etc.
- if they can show the connections of media postings in search results - e.g. if author x has posted video xyz, what else have they done?
- people search - it's not "new" per se but being able to find authors or publishers that you like and seeing their work through the internet would be helpful. Combining blog search, image, video, etc would be great.
- indexing of audio files for podcasters could really help pin down topics and pair content with the correct sources instead of those who scrape the content and republish.

As a student, I don't have a "business" per se - at this point. I plan to launch a company soon in an attempt tie together everything that I do online. That said, I think there are other implications for my blog and my future business.

I believe that it is incredibly important for students to blog, write, and do anything else to get their name out there. If not for enjoyment, though that really helps your content and motivation, then student should blog for the very purpose of having your name come up correctly and show the "right" kind of message when a recruiter Googles you.

My issue in the near term is how to tie my podcast and my blog together into a single entity. Is that possible when trying to get build your personal brand? Or are they too different?
