I think the increase for the individual would vary within the 4-6% and that range shoud move to the left once the economy gets cracking in the future. I guess they would probably impliment the range according to tax bracket. And i think that case is a worse case scenario

The law prohibits extra billing. This can be done with or without the public option. But for only an additional 4-6% increase in taxes, the pub could do alot of good for folks in this country.

Ok guys,the numbers suggest that the public option is feasible with a 4-6% tax increase over the long haul. If they do it like they do Canada? the tax increase wont be so bad

I did not say the only good thing. I said: The Clinton tax rates were good for the country because taxes went down. Reasons as to why decreasing the tax rate is good. Do I really need to over this again?

Ok, its good because it spurrs economic activity. Businesses reenvest and buy equipment/services because they have more money, and the confidence to do so. This gives the economy an additional boost. Consumers spend more because they have more money to do so. This also boost the economy. All this coupled with fiscal responsibility from Clinton kept the economy zooming.

And please tell me where exactly did I state that people on foodstamps and GA, whatever that is, would need to pay taxes.
Dont fabricate such arguments and attribute them to me in order to make a point.

Here is a though:
In 1984, the Canada Health Act was passed, which prohibited extra billing by doctors on patients while at the same time billing the public insurance system.The system is for the most part publicly funded, yet most of the services are provided by private enterprises or private corporations, although most hospitals are public.

We have both diverged from the focus of our original topic, which was the Public Option
U stated your reasons as to why u supported it, and I sated the reason as to why I am reluctant to do so. We then went into a discussion as why some of those reasons might be valid/invalid. That got us to where we are today.
The Clinton tax rates were good for the country because taxes went down.
You seem not to want to mention how are why the Clinton tax came into being.
U say taxes will remain the same, only God knows that. And with all the demand on the gov to provide services, why should I believe that argument?

And no matter how much u might try to fabricate such an argument, there is no justification for requring people that make more to pay more. I like the flat tax idea myself. 20% individual, 25 Corporate. Or something like that.

Needless to say, I am checking out

Seems like you are at odds with the very mechanics that make this economy function
If so, you should consider relocating to China, Russia, Cuba, or Venezuela etc. These countries, should in fact, accommodate to your needs.

What Clinton did was impressive. Wish we could not that again. But lets not forget that he inherited an economy on the rebound due to the tax cuts. Prior to those cuts, taxes had been relatively high for quite sometime. The cut reduced the burden on businesses, enabled them to reinvest and purchase new equipment, which further stimulated the economy. The cut also possessively spurred consumer spending. Don't be selectively in attributing credit.

I hear the higher taxes are ok because it pays for shit argument all the time.

I will give you the satellite argument. Buy it could go ether way. I don't think the gov needs to conduct many launches into space. At this point they are more of a sign of dominance and strength aimed at those we consider potential threats.

Well, lets spend less!
The answer is not to tax more to in order to spend more
The amount of taxes we collect annually from over 350 mill Americans and Businesses should be more than enough to maintain infrastructure, pay for education, etc.
Wasteful spending is our number one problem
Do not dance around the the issue by saying: I don't mind paying a little more to fix the the bridges and education. There is no accountability on the part of the gov to do what needs to be done with the money they collect
If the gov could honestly tell me that the money would go to roads and bridges in next two years, I would gladly pay up. But instead, every freaking two months some stupid satellite is headed into space.

If they could say, we are raising taxes, this is what is going to happen, 5% to this, 20% to that, and ad in that they wont touch the money unless for the specified purpose, then I would not harp too much.

The statement that higher taxes are needed to pay for shit is too general, and does us no good, especially when the main issue is lack of accountability and wasteful spending.

If you give a kid 20 bucks, they will spend it. It u give them more, they will spend that also.
The kid might not have any need to spend it, he does it simple because he has the money and he can spend it. Giving the kid more money without posing restrictions or requiring some kind of accountability will only lead to more spending.

We need roads and bridges, education, unemployment insurance etc. The gov collect enough taxes as it is to pay for these things. The highways didn't just fall apart yesterday. They were also falling apart in the 80s when the tax rate was almost 50%.They have been left in disrepair for almost 70yrs.
