throw a 3 payg sim into a 3 usb broadband modem, you can send and receive text messages on your desktop using 3's software.

A local not for profit radio station did this and was a very popular service.

You might then be able to assign a shortcode to the payg number?

2MB was reasonable, but for the price I was paying it wasn't fast enough! pretty much had to leave my laptop on all the time to download everything I actually wanted.

Even worse was the fact I had to pay either upfront for 41 weeks or in 3 instalments, so the providers were loving the interest they were racking up from the 400 odd students in my building alone!

Last year I stayed in private halls, (Unite group). The Internet was shocking! 2MB connection for.... wait for it..... £6.49 a week!!!!! so roughly £28 a month... THE BIGGEST RIPOFF EVER!!!

Seriously wish I had gone for 3 mobile dongle, but this was before the half price discounts they now offer, though the limits were very restricting for the internet usage I normally accustomed to!

£100 for those headphones is crazy money!!! (For anyone that missed it the Model is HF2). Though they would be great for those emergency headphones (yeh right!)

Cost less than £4 although do have to wait a week for delivery! And you don't get the "cutting tool" but a hole punch or small scissors will suffice!

Very straight forward and easy to use! Would recommend!

Ewan I just gave three a call, I am currently on x series silver. Asked if I could add a broadband bundle to my handset, so I can officially connect my handset to my laptop using bluetooth. Seems like they can do it just fine. It's a shame to see vodafone are unable to do so!
