They are really not made to handle too demanding graphics, photography may be ok for them and if I had to recommend you one for this purpose I would go with MSI Wind U100.

It really is not too different, in lots of aspects it is better than windows, now almost every operating system offers a similar window based UI so it is very easy to use.
I like a linux version called UBUNTU, it has a very nice interface...

BTW this may make an interesting post.

You may try a liquid cooling system, it's very quiet, and works better than any other.
