I'm a pretty educated person and my political beliefs are deeply rooted and cannot be swayed by the current feud or the media.
Your Marxist comments in regards to President Bush and President Obama are way off. Maybe you've never read anything Marx or Lenin wrote, but I have and I've lived in a socialist country and trust me, neither man has a Marxist or socialist agenda. Seems like maybe you've been brainwashed.
Those men that you've named may have been great leaders, well most of them, but we can't wish for the 2nd coming of a past leader. We need to move forward. We are behind so many countries in so many things. Our only concern is being a military superpower. We need our military, yes of course and we should all respect and honor those who serve, but that's not the only thing that makes a strong independent, free country. And of course there are some crooked politicians on both sides and I posted that comment about a crooked man because he has the ability to influence so many but you turned this convo into something else (and I don't really agree with you about Teddy Kennedy). I'm not a fan of what goes on in this city at all. Philadelphia democrats are a rare breed. The city is full of corruption. Don't know why you turned this into a convo about this city.
Sorry for mistaken you for a republican but you have such love for the red states.

Re: Letters - South Philly Review

Hmm...another uneducated Republican spewing irrelevant garbage without facts to support himself/herself...how refreshing! How about the conservative felon who defrauded taxpayers and took advantage of people at their weakest? I guess bringing that to light makes her a "looney lefty."

Re: Letters - South Philly Review

i hear you, sister.

Re: Letters - South Philly Review

How about this for a story.....

Most right wingers are listening to Rick Scott, the man leading the charge against health-care reform and the founder of Conservatives for Patients Rights (CPR). CPR is an organization that is actively opposing health-care reform. CPR is out to distort the facts about health-care reform and to disrupt any meeting in which discussions may occur.

This is the same company that lead the Swiftboat campaign against John Kerry.

Scott is famous for starting the "Mcdonalds" of hospital chains (his words.)

In 1987 Scott started Columbia/HCA not to care for patients but in his own words to “do for hospitals … what McDonald’s has done in the food business.” Through massive acquisitions and consolidations. I see it as cheap care and maximum profits.
Scott built the company into the one of the world’s largest health-care companies. In the process his company defrauded the government (taxpayers) out of hundreds of million of dollars
and the company pleaded guilty in 2000 to the charges. Columbia/HCA had to pay a record $1.7 billion in fines.

“Columbia/HCA systematically defrauded taxpayers, charging Medicare $15,000 for Tiffany pitchers and other luxury goods, “exaggerating the seriousness of the illnesses they were treating,” and engineering a program where doctors were granted partnerships in hospitals as a kickback for referring patients. In 1997, Scott resigned in disgrace.”

Scott now runs an investment firm and owns, among other things, a chain of walk-in urgent-care clinics in Florida called Solantic. He is a lawyer by training and has no formal medical experience. Frobes once said that when he ran Columbia/HCA Scott bought “hospitals by the bucketful and promised to squeeze blood from each one.” In fact, although he rails against “rationing” of services that is exactly what happened at Columbia/HCA under his direction and he took it to the extreme putting patient safety last.

Lindsay Smith
Pismo Beach, CA
