On top of that, they were fairly ugly, and lacked a lot of features (since adding other comment plugins often broke it).</p><p>Disqus has been great because they keep spam out (spam blockers on wordpress so far have let some things through). Also, there is a ranking system, avatars (much easier to integrate than gravatar, since it's included as well), and all sorts of ajaxy things. There are some things I don't like (like how wordpress drafts show up on the disqus discussion page when you preview your article), but all-in-all I have seen so many improvements to it, and it's only getting better.</p><p>Now they have video comments which can be added with the click of a button.
