I'm not from LawTown but am a big fan. I just dont see the anti - Lawrence vibe out there like you are talking about. Beyond the rabid Central parents and alum you wont see anybody from anywhere else rooting for them. They win too much and usually have their pick of athletes from 3 surrounding counties. Nothing against the school or teams (both solid institutions) but 80% of people feel they have an unfair advantage. For example; imagine if the MIAA allowed you to combine just a few players from some of the NA and Lawrence teams or Andover and Lawrence teams, or Haverhill and Lawrence teams........ and that would be just 2 towns in the mix not 20.

Re: Excited for the weekend … albeit with a sad, sad feeling deep in my heart

Not exactly sure how/when it gets decided but sometime before the season last nights NA/Masco game was agreed upon to be an official 'league' game. The first time they played this season was just one of the 'extra' games that teams schedule to fill out the year and could've been played against anybody EX: NA also played NReading twice this yr but only one was the 'league' game. Didnt matter in that case, NA lost both.

Re: Please read Brendan Neilon’s response to my last rant …

I enjoy giving and taking a good shot as much as the next guy but the 'fuzzybear' vs 'heck' thing has run its course and its distracting the focus from whats really interesting which is some pretty good baseball being played. Wiesman (NA) has been a real horse all year and Masco hit maybe 2 balls hard all night including foul balls.
Hec; really appreaciate your passion for HS sports, you make a solid effort to cover a lot of games and seem to play it pretty straight down the line. For the record Hec and the Lawrence coach sat at the table behind home plate all night and althought I dont claim to be a professional the body language seemed fine.
There should be 8 teams in the tournament so everbody has a chance to throw their best pitching against the best, there's got to be 2 more decent teams out there who want to play.
Play on both fields at the same time if you need to in the early rounds.
The field behind the HS looks great, there was a nice crowd last night, do yourselves a favor and go see some baseball this weekend.
BTW; the Wayne Knight comment was pretty funny.
