Thank you for making the liberal case for why criticizing Islam, or any other religion, is not only acceptable, but important.

I do have one quibble, however. Perhaps "bigotry towards Muslims" is the correct term for what you are calling Islamophobia (and of course I thoroughly agree that such bigotry exists and it is a very serious problem that we should also tackle).

A naive interpretation of the term Islamophobia is "fear of Islam." Many people around the world have very good reason to fear Islam, and I would not want to automatically smear them as "bigots." It's not fear of Islam as a religion or as an institution that is the problem, rather bigotry toward Muslims as people. We should focus on that.

Re: Liberal Confusion on Ferguson

As someone who shares the vast majority of your world view (as espoused on your About page), I, unsurprisingly, find your argument compelling, and would tend to agree.

Additionally: if the convenience store video making the rounds on the net is indeed Brown, it gives a strong indication that Brown's manner was aggressive and violent just moments before the shooting. IMHO that seriously buttresses Wilson's account of the altercation. Wilson's basic outline seems entirely plausible.

I'm afraid my fellow leftists have chosen the wrong case to fight for their entirely just overarching cause. For me, the liberal response has been sad to see, but also an eye-opener. As Andrew Sullivan published today, "Ferguson is the Left's Benghazi".

Re: My right to death with dignity at 29

Brittany: Thank you for telling your story and for fighting an important civil rights battle for all Americans, even as you battle a terrible illness. We all owe you a great debt. I can only imagine the negative response you've received from less enlightened quarters. Your bravery is astounding. I hope your final days are joyous (I already know they have been deeply meaningful). Again, Thank You.

Re: Debugging Python Like a Boss - Zapier

Nice tips! I've recently released a Mac-native Python IDE called Exedore with graphical debugging supported by pdb. I hope you or your readers will check it out: http://celestialteapot.com/...

Re: Drive Poster by James White: 3 Posters Giveaway - Winners

poster looks great, as usual.

todd.ditchendorf@gmail.com

Re: Apple Joins OpenJDK To Open Source Mac OS X Java Technology

Seriously guys, the first sentence is downright, wildly, massively wrong. They just seem like they're both the 'good guys', 'fighting the good fight', ya know?

Was John's post warranted? (dissing journos for perceived slights to apple is certainly not unusual for DF. and face it, we all revel in it usually) No judgement from me.

I like @cbarrett's idea about a clear disclaimer on articles providing information/guidance on jailbreaking. With that in place, isn't the disagreement effectively over?

Anyway, keep up the great work at Ars Clint, u guys rock.

Re: Officially Lucky, a blog by Clint Ecker

is she? or is she following christianity to its logical conclusion?
