I am a huge fan and follower of Dave Ramsey's baby steps to get out of debt. The real key for all of us is to a. take our head our of the sand b. be proactive by selecting any plan and following it to get out of debt and c.keeping a living breathing budget where you assign a task for all of your take home pay. I was utterly shocked at how much more money I had to spend once I started assigning a task for every dollar I earned. Oh, and the freedom to buy big and small w/o any guilt.

I created a google spreadsheet with a month's worth of meal plans . linked to the recipes and broke the recipes down weekly. I then created a shopping lists for each week to make sure I had the ingredients in the house. I too hate meal planning - and as the cook of the family with carnivores, vegetarians and children, I needed to simplify my life, not complicate it. The weekends are for experiments and switching it up.

It is not enough to create a will/trust, but to let the beneficiaries know what to expect. Surprises in a will can also have long lasting effects on the family and relationships.
We have had conversations with our parents about wills and trusts. One set of parents have an updated will and the other set of parents refuse to create a will. We live in a country (israel) where if a person does not have a will, the estate is automatically split in half. One half of the estate goes to the living spouse and the other half of the estate is then divided up for the children. This means that the kids can force a parent to sell their home so they can collect their legal inheritance. I can't wrap my head around this concept.

I haven't tried YNAB but I depend on Everydollar.com and its app to budget and track our family's spending. I found it intuitive and easy to set up, use and modify each month. The only drawback for me is that I live outside the United States and cannot change the currency font.

When I got married at 32, I hyphenated my last name. I felt very strongly that I needed to keep my maiden last name. My father is the eldest son of a Holocaust survivor who lost his entire family in the war. I am the eldest of my father's three girls. My dad and uncle didn't have any biological sons to pass the name onto. Therefore I felt it was my responsibility to keep the name going.

My mother wanted to hyphenate her last name but her mom wouldn't hear of it. So she gave us double middle names - the first was an original name and the second was the initial K to represent her maiden name. However, you cannot use an initial as a name and so, she spelled out the letter - Kay.

Now you have to understand, I moved to Israel at the age of 24 and decided to keep the names listed on my birth certificate for my new identification. So I have 5 names listed on my ID and it makes people crazy.

A great hack is to rub hair conditioner on the leather of your shoes in the spots where it feels tight. It will soften the leather just in those tight spots. Reapply the conditioner if the leather still feels tight after walking around in the shoes. I typically use this trick the first two or three days of wearing new shoes.

Why only protect the fortress when you can also monitor AND protect the data at the file level. Very simply - use technology that protects the file from the moment it is created and then blocks unauthorized activities like attempting to copy/save/print/email or even view the data.

I use the favorite feature for two reasons - one to save tweets/links to be viewed at a later date and i also favorite tweets that i do not want to get lost w/in the twitter world (and it is connected to my RSS reader) . I "un-favorite" a tweet if it was saved for a later time and viewed. The funny/amusing tweets stay favorited.

As someone who grew up on the cusp of ultra-orthodoxy, I fundamentally disagree with removing women from photos and believe that if you need to erase women from a photo, you need not to use that photo. I might not agree with their beliefs but accept it to be their reality but on the flip side, it is against the law and should be penalized for breaking it.
