Another option is to build your own list. Create a blog for your business, offer something of value such as a guide or e-book and provide it for free to anyone who opts in with their email address. Get a list management system such as aweber.com and provide regular emails to your list of prospects. Be sure to have a privacy policy to assure your audience that you won't spam them or sell their information.

I, too, have a MacBook Pro and you're right about them frying your lap. (that's why Apple calls them portable desktop computers, not laptops).

A few months ago, I got a Targus Chill Mat at Wal-Mart. This one has fans and plugs into your USB and it really works! But your friend's product looks cool, too.
