Well, I cleared my cache and cookies. Unfortunately my avatar still doesn't show up on my site above the comment box. This may sound confusing, but, again it shows up here on the Disqus site, and it shows up on my site when I leave comments, but it doesn't show up on my site when I'm logged in and idle. What I'm trying to mean by "idle" is, lets say I'm not leaving a comment but I'm logged in. Above the comment box it will say logged in as indieshows and next to that is where the avatar is supposed to be, but all I see is the Disqus default avatar --> : |. Then, as soon as I submit a comment, my avatar shows up next to my comment, but again, it is not next to where it says that I'm logged in.

I can send a screenshot to someone if they'd like.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

I'm sorry, I know that's frustrating. I wish I could help more... I hope someone from Disqus chimes in for you.

I will say again, it was weird the way mine started working. I spent an entire day trying to change the look of my Disqus section with CSS and then I just gave up. Then, the next day, I got online, and it was like magic! :) The CSS suddenly worked. So I have no clue what's going on.

Maybe theres some other CSS or script that is conflicting. Come to think of it... that could be it. Your blog could be using another javascript that is conflicting with this javascript:

First the code I listed in my post above is incorrect... there is an extra quote at the end that is not needed and could cause errors. Here is the correct code to put in your header:

Make a css file called "disqus-form.css" and put your css code in there. Then include the above code into your site's header (make sure you use your site name instead of my-blog-url.com).

I added "body {color:#fff !important;}" to the disqus-form.css style sheet. But I also have some in my regular style sheet. Basically anything you want to edit that is in the disqus iframe (so the comment box, submit button, etc) put that ccs code in the disqus-form.css file. If you are trying to edit anything else, like the look of the actual comments, that can go into your regular style sheet... basically if you follow the directions on the following page EXACTLY then it should work...

If you follow the intructions on the above page and it is still not working, then try deleting all your cookies and emptying your cache. I followed the instructions on the page above, but didn't see any changes... got frustrated and turned off my computer. The next day I went to my site and everything was working... so I think my browser just needed to be shut down and restarted for some reason.

You have to put this in your site's header:

Then you have to create a disqus-form.css file and add your custom CSS to that.

I figured it out.

The code below to allow custom CSS causes it. Not sure why.

Update.. it was because of the extra quotes at the end of the code there. duh. But, I only had the extra quotes because this is exactly how it is on the Disqus Custom CSS help page.

Sorry, I know "bumping" a topic like this may be frowned upon, but, does anyone else have disqus installed via the generic code, if so, are you having this problem?

Hi,

This has nothing to do with inyourshirt.tv, but about the generic code. I used the generic code to add Disqus to my custom site and it worked great for two days, but, today when someone makes a comment it redirects them to my site's Disqus page instead of keeping them on my site which is what it did when I first installed it. I haven't changed anything, in fact the generic code is only a couple lines so there isn't much to change. Have you guys changed anything?

Below is what is NOT working for me. Disqus is not supposed to redirect commenters away but that's what it is doing for me... please help!

I'm using the simple generic integration, so all I did was I copy and pasted the couple lines of generic code provided into my site. Then I did make a few small css changes. Also, it worked perfectly 2 days ago, now it doesn't which leads me to believe that maybe something was changed here at Disqus?

How it should work:
Partly due to the previously mentioned change, Disqus now feels much more like a natural extension of your blog. Links and actions do not annoyingly redirect commenters away.

Commenters can now login or register while posting their comments, all in a single action. We hope this will encourage more people to verify the commenter profiles they use around the web.

I don't think I'm having exactly the same problem, but may it is. When I try to leave a comment I am re-directed to Disqus instead of the comment just appearing without re-directing like it used to do.

I've decided just to leave things the way they are. I really like the feaures Disqus gives you. But, if anyone has success editing the submit button, let me know!

I'm finding this out as well today. I installed Disqus for the first time last night.. and I'm able to change the colors, but, I can't style the submit button or input fields to save my life! They really need to make css editing easier if they want Disqus to continue to grow...

But, I'm going to stick with Disqus, I love the features!!!

You probably didn't do anything wrong. I'm having trouble changing some things as well. I can change colors and font, but when it comes to changing the style of the submi button for examle, it's not working. Hopefully we are either doing something wrong and someone will help us out, or it has to do with the way Disqus' system is set up.

I've tried copying and pasting css from firebug... still doesn't work. I can edit the css for everything EXCEPT the input fields and submit button... first, you would think simply adding input {whatever css here;} would do the trick but it doesn't. I've tried input.submit... and many others. Help?

My suggestion to the Disqus team would be to make the css easier to change because it looks like more people are failing than succeeding at changing the css.

For what it's worth, the above code worked for me. I was able to edit my iframe. I had to make the font size smaller to get rid of some ugly scroll bars.

Did you try adding !important at the end of your css like:
body {color:#fff !important;}

I figured it out. You just insert the above line of code into your HEAD and make it point to a style sheet for the iframe. Then I simply put the following into disqus-form.css to match my theme:

html, body {color:#fff; font-family:trebuchet ms; font-size:9pt;}
span.help {color:#fff;}
span.help a {color:#fff; text-decoration:underline;}
span.help a:hover {color:#000; text-decoration:underline;}
.form-text-label {color:#fff;}
A:link {text-decoration: underline; color:#fff;}
A:visited {text-decoration: underline; color:#fff;}
A:active {text-decoration: underline; color:#fff;}
A:hover {text-decoration: underline; color: #000;}

It turns out that the only reason scrollbars were appearing in IE6 was because of the font size. Once I changed the font size to 9pt, then the bars went away! Looks and works great now!
