I stopped buying new netrunner after the first data cycle. The whole reason I was excited was because it threw off the Pay-to-Win model of MTG but retained all the fun of building a deck with your friends and hitting them together until one broke. I find playing netrunner as a normal board game instead of the competitive scene helped me hold on to the magic for longer. Like anything, looking behind the curtain at the iterated upon and refined 'best solution' takes the magic away. I know it's hard to stay out of all the high level discussions and the community is just full of wonderful people but over analysis really drains the fun.

A hot summer night in Grade 7 I had two of my buddies over and we played HeroQuest. We played for a solid 10 hours till the sun came up the next day. Just burning through the campaign level by level. We laughed, we shouted and we all were shocked to hear the birds chirping and the sun breaking through the blinds on the windows because we had all lost track of time to such an extent that we couldn't believe it was morning already.

I've long since lost contact with these friends but until I did, it was always refered to as "that night" with fond memories.

Great video Quinns. I was tearing up.
