Artur Davis has always been pathetic. My mother is from Alabama and she has been stating that the AA's down there was very angry at Davis not voting for the health care bill. That made many mad down there. I am surprised that Davis did not get this. This is also a wake up call that just because you are BLACK does not mean you will get our vote automatically. No tears shed here for Davis

You are correct. Which brings us to why are we approving leases, drilling in the depth of the ocean, hitting the earth's crust when these companies have no contingency plans? I know the final leases had to go through Interior in 2009 because the drilling started in 2010 or late 2009 I believe. Did anyone read BP's disaster recovery plan? Or did they just sign off on it? I bet it was the latter than the former, because reading requires asking QUESTIONS. Which goes back to the corrupt MMS division under Interior. These problems on the repeat button on television is nothing new, this happened under Bush's watch, but why did the Obama Administration not halt EVERYTHING, clean that department up, when they knew it was problematic? On this, the Obama Administration was business as usual and it has bitten them in the ass.

My father lives in the Gulf and Hurricane Katrina was too much, but this? He was mighty salty when I spoke with him on the phone and is praying that oil does not hit the panhandle in Florida, but he knows that it will. While his anger is firmly on BP, he does not understand Obama's "MIA" approach on this. He said these people are mad and this is being nice, they need to see the President on it. Perceptions are everything in that office and they have totally miscalculated this. Another thing, they HATE that CEO of BP and are tired of him talking, let alone walking on their beaches like he really gives a damn. Barack Obama needs to put his leadership coat on and I mean quick.

Aw, she is cute. We got our new puppy last July and he will be one in a week. But glad you got a crate, if puppies are not used to it they will have a puppy tantrum until they adjust. Before long, she will be house broken. But you know what to do, watch her, when she is playing and abruptly start sniffing by the door, walls, take her out, etc. She is a gorgeous "designer dog". That is what we call mixed dogs here in Chicagoland, the word "mutt" is a NO-NO.

Especially all those blue dogs. Now they are trying to pass the bill through 'Deem and Pass'. If the Dems are doing this, why not have your talking pts together and ppl on TV to explain this shyte. Again, confusion and miscommunication from the Democrats. While the GOP are yaking it up that, "They are going to pass a bill and not vote on it", you don't hear a peep from our side.

Perception is a bitch and the Obama perception to many out here, especially minorities is that he has not done much. Just read Dan Froomkin's take on Obama's big job speech. It wilted aways as tulips do in the spring. Nobody is hearing him nor listening. I will give Obama this, government do not create jobs, but if you are perceived as giving Wall Street and too big to fail banks a lifeline, but are perceiveds as doing very little for main street, which includes black folk, you have a hard road to tow. This is where Obama is. Can he get out of it? Maybe, but brace yourselves that if the job numbers are where they are at NOW or WORSE this time next year, Democrats lose big. More importantly, all those NEW, INVIGORATED voters that gave Obama a mandate, they will not show up. And the base right now, very angry at Obama, especially for what lack of health care we will get. They have a point and right. Remember, mid-term elections are won by your base coming out, screw the pooch on your base, why should they come out? Lastly, see the polls on Americans and Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize after sending 30K troops? Not good.

This is documentary from Edward Norton's production company. In fact, they have been following Obama since 2004 DNC speech, they just lucked up that he announced to run in 2007. I heard from those that saw a premiere that it was good.

Val, they are going to be voting next year at mid-term, and that health care reform bill will be front and center. This man, as most presidents, don't get a year. No, it will be a matrix for many how he governs and what he is about. Remember, politicians are chameleons, they change as the wind blows, Obama is not exception to the rule.

Totally disagree. Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela won based on WORKING on abolishing apartheid. When they won, both apartheid was still in place but it was removed later. Barack Obama won primarily for his courageous campaign and the man has been talking PEACE and was ridiculed through his whole campaign. For me, the Cairo, Egypt speech was the speech that won it for him, along with what he has done behind the scenes in all these international conferences for peace and elimination of nuclear weapons, which he also tirelessly campaigned for.

Look, you don't give this back. What kind of shyte statement is this? You are stating right wing talking points that the man has done nothing. If that is the case, look at all these men and women who won, and still for some in their instances their achievement has not been met, but it is the courage to continue to FIGHT that will be remembered.

You don't know or understand Chicago politics. For Obama to go to Copenhagen the heavy and I mean heavy push was from Chicago pols for him to pitch the games for Chicago. HEAVY. Yes, the President must represent the USA, but let's not put our heads in the sand, all this drama had Chicago pols fingerprints all over it all the way to the WH. And Obama has been living in Chicago for over 20 years, please, his wife worked for Mayor Daley at one point, he knows the GAME of politics in Chicago, or he would not still be standing.

There was real 50/50 on that Olympics, primarily because of how King Richard has governed Chicago which has always been shady as hell. They thought because Obama was from Chicago that would sway folks, there is more to that IOC game than swooping into Copenhagen for 4 hours and then jetting back.

I wrote about this on my blog on Sunday when the Chicago Tribune posted a story about this. That article was all about throwing Chicago under the bus from the White House.

Again, you don't have your man, the POTUS, go over to Copenhagen when you don't know what the end result will be. This WH has been DISASTROUS on messaging period. We saw it on the daily with the town hall meetings and all that shyte attached to it. And we then saw that POTUS had to give a Joint Sessions of Congress speech to clear all that shyte up. We can argue what should have been done, but no one can state that the WH did a good job on the information of health care to the public in August.

There was a REASON that POTUS did not want to go to Copenhagen. The inside track was always RIO not CHICAGO. I just think the Chicago pols used the presidency for a final push, hoped it would be and failed. Everything tells the story when Chi-Town was eliminated in the first round.

From Jarrett and Axelrod supposedly being the smartest ones in the room, they ended up with massive egg on their faces.

The public did not, repeat, not like that Obama bailed out all those banks and Wall Street which put us in the position that we are in, but he has done very little (in their eyesight) to help Main Street. Why do you think Obama went to NYC and gave a speech on Wall Street telling them, no more money? This resentment is in the polling numbers and folks don't like it. If the IRS and anyone else can come after the hard working American, who does everything right, but it is a double standard for Wall Street and these banks? People are not feeling that.

Some of those "too big to fail" banks should have failed. And many of the other smaller banks are failing EVERY DAY.

I have been writing about this for months.

People are angered over bailing out banks, wall street, both who put us where we are at and the auto industry to an extent. When is the American People going to be bailed out? That is why if that health insurance reform is not real reform, there will be anger at the polls in 2010.

Obama does need to focus on jobs. He still has cover thanks to Bush Admin but this time next year that cover will be blown off, along with any fairy dust that remains. There are over 15M ppl unemployed and we are not talking about the under employed or those not on the rolls. IT is rough out here and no jobs, means no health insurance, means hard times, means no one will be listening to Obama if he can not turn this around.

Bad move saving banks and wall street, imo. They are still giving the public the shaft and don't care.

That is not how the IOC operates. The IOC knew who they were going to PICK before all the political stars flew into Denmark. POTUS should have listened to his WH and not gone, Michelle was suffice, but the Chicago pressure won in the end.

Do you get how the Olympics pick cities? Right now Rio probably do have the inside track because again, the Olympics have never been in South America and that does carry weight with the IOC. Now, Obama is a star, internationally and he can persuade some folks, but this decision should be made by now and these leaders going to Denmark is just for show, at this point. And my ass is fine right where it is at, and you were out of bounds in that comment.

RIO should get the Olympics, the Olympics have never been in South America. Dealing with Daley and corruption of Chicago politics, when this is over the ones who got paid will be long gone and Chicago left holding the bag. In the past few Olympics only a few actually made money. Again, who in the hell is going to pay for this. This is the biggest ponzi scheme the City of Chicago can get, if selected. And folks talking about jobs? The ones who will get the big paycheck have already cut a deal with Daley. What is left is 2 week crumbs.
