ok first of all, thanks for such a quick reply. my own quick reply is due solely to how awesome disqus was in notifying me of your reply. yay! another check mark for disqus in my test.

I agree on MI and FL, and am highly annoyed at her preposterous stance now given that she agreed with the rules before changing them would be to her advantage.

As for Obama's experience, I'll wind this up here. I wrote this piece (I'm a political blogger and Obama volunteer) back in February after getting tired of the "he just makes perty speeches" argument. oh i'll be back. i'm also into tech and all that jazz. my hesitation with disqus is around the impact on google/technorati juice when comments are hosted elsewhere and the issue of longevity. i expect to outlast disqus (and most businesses, though not necessarily the business model). how did you get comfortable with "letting go" of your site's comments?

liza, i don't think having two parallel comment systems is a good idea. it's confusing seeing the multiple input boxes and the vastly different styles of each comment. leo laporte had the disqus dude on his net@night show last week. you should listen to it. seems like you have three options for integrating disqus

1) keep old commenting system in place and enable disqus for all items posted after disqus install
2) import all historical comments into disqus so your site is fully disqus enabled
3) run both.

the company will soon release a method of exporting your comments out of disqus and back into your native blog platform. with this escape hatch, i think i'm much more comfortable with the idea.

as a commenter, iove that i get notifications when people reply to my comment, and my commenter profile grows over time. over at JJP (and I'm sure here), we have some bomb ass commenters, and disqus allows them to stand out a bit more

i definitely found my way into many more of your conversation starters because of twitter. the degrees of separation were easier to identify and overcome as i saw my own peers engaged in exciting debate/discussion with "@davewiner." before that, i only heard your name on podcasts -- not the most interactive medium.

Can't believe I'm about to give bill the benefit of the doubt, but I see this as a statement on the family nature of his campaign. It's very rare for a man to campaign for his wife alongside his daughter and with the primaries over tomorrow, that will be done. This is the "last day." I don't take this to mean he won't campaign for Obama, just that doing so would not be "a campaign of this kind."
