I would bet this is because they combine many technologies into a bundle. While some technology tapers off, like the combustion engine, other technologies come in to keep on improving the car as a whole, like computers and new materials. Seems like there's a growing number of straight-up curated sites like Medium. I've been experimenting with limiting user posts so that content is just the user's favorite thing from the day.
