I lost track of them around '88, but listened to quite a few recent tracks on Kilbey's birthday. Not bad at all.
Had a spin of your man Stanley, too. Mp3 working perfectly on my phone. Gonna need a few more listens, as this is quite a dense track.

Nice inspiration you got there, and good use you to put it to.

I recently figured out why the cover of the album looks the way it does. Apparently there is a photographic technique that makes gases look solid, and Martyn's cover photo is an example of that.

That the song references Nick Drake is of course well-known. It fits with my view of Drake: that he became so depressed that the air around him felt impossible to penetrate, either with sound or motion...

Mac worked with Nancy Sinatra for a few years, and sold several songs to Elvis' people, before going on to mainstream success as a recording artist himself. I found this story about In the Ghetto on Wikipedia:

"According to maverick record producer Jimmy Bowen, "Ghetto" was originally pitched to Sammy Davis, Jr. Mac, guitar in hand, played the song in a studio, with onlookers such as Rev. Jesse Jackson
and other members of the black activist community. Davis, the only
