I found it on vinyl several years ago at a local thrift shop and purchased it on the strength of the front and back cover alone (low-budget aesthetic, weird song titles, small label, gangly guy playing basketball on the back cover). I am continuously amazed how it has remained in obscurity all these years. It's like a Casio-driven precursor to the Pixies. Thank you for posting this, though I'm kicking myself for having not yet posted something off this record myself.

Re: The Daily What

Sure your lunch won't be stolen, but there now exists the risk of your lunch getting thrown out.

Re: united colours of vruz - The Saints - (I’m) Stranded

Though, given the sound of the recording, I can't imagine what purpose such high quality vinyl has on such a wonderfully lo-fi record.

Re: The Pleonastic Hussalonian - The Troggs: With a Girl Like You (1966)

Yes, everyone's dead!

Personnel as listed in the booklet:
Manny Klein (t), Tommy Dorsey (tb), Jimmy Dorsey (cl,as), Arthur Schutt (p), Eddie Lang (g), Joe Ventuti (vn), Stan King (d)

And good call on the cartoon. I envisioned the same.

Re: Fluxtumblr

Good god, is right. I had such a crush on her after I saw this video. How could that have that escaped you?

And that lyric, "A heart that hurts, is a heart that works." I was smitten.

I saw her in Toronto on this tour, opening for Jeff Buckley.

Re: The Pleonastic Hussalonian

One should neither place the cursor on the white line, nor drink so much coffee that your hand shakes so.

Yes, I like your idea about equality via shirtwear. I've often dreamed of "the suit," a gray, all-purpose uni-suit, and the "the car," an unpainted, despondently utilitarian vehicle that would destroy everyone's ego equally. But then, some of us will never be able to hide the advantages and disadvantages that our bodies and brains naturally bestow upon us. See: "Harrison Bergeron" for further amusement.

This is not to mention that one can either buy a 3 pack of t-shirts for 9.99 at your local department store, or a single (ahem) designer t-shirt at the Gap or Banana Republic for $20 (maybe even $50). Even vanilla ice cream has high-priced gourmet varieties. Resistance is futile.

Obviously, I recommend the black t-shirt, but even the black t-shirt can be stained. Believe me. It can be stained.

Thanks, good sir.

Re: Fluxtumblr

My Sentridoh tapes weep.
