Most of the likes and follows I get are powered by bots. They've got to wipe a lot of my followers before I'm going to believe that they're actually doing anything about this.

Weather sealing should be good enough that you can drop it in the ocean, pull it out quickly and shower it off in fresh water with no adverse effects.

You could probably make a device for your iphone that would place the phone in the perfect spot to simply record off the ground glass. Get a nice ground glass for you Nikon F2 that doesn't have any frame lines, focus, snap away, make a video, whatever. I think it would probably get a similar aesthetic and be a simpler product.

Flickr should pivot to become what Instagram was a few years ago. Make a chronological timeline, put snapchat stories in, Flickr mail, and boom, replace Facebook.

I don't think they should be listening to the current flickr users. My entire online photography community -- the people I follow and the people who follow me -- left Flickr years ago. They should be giving us a reason to come back instead of optimizing things for the luddites that are still hanging around that dusty site.

Although there do appear to be differences in the hair, that could have something to do with the difference in the camera perspective in the two shots. The fact that there's a stuffed anteater in the immediate area in that exact same pose that the wild anteater struck for the photographer is too much of a coincidence for me.

Am I the only one old enough to remember september 11th? That's when all this stuff started. Way before Trump or Obama, though they both carry on the tradition, but that is really when the US started becoming the surveillance / police state that they are / will increasingly become.

Facebook and google know everybody's social media. My question is why are we cool with these insanely powerful private corporations having all this power over us but not a democratically elected government?

They justify decreasing our rights to privacy by invoking terrorists, but it's exactly as Newton up there says, the really effective terrorists are going to make themselves look benign and slip through this little last-ditch probe by the border guards. It's up to the real professionals to track and catch these people.

What this will actually do is give border guards a better ability to catch the mostly harmless idiots who post incriminating photos on instagram of themselves smoking weed or painting graffiti or whatever. Then they can do a thorough search, find a few butts from a marijuana cigarette or maybe the person will say the wrong thing and accidentally admit to something and then they can be arrested and fed into the American for-profit prison system. Cops aren't allowed to just walk up to you on the street, in Canada or the US, and just start going through your stuff and asking questions, but at the border they can. That's why it's such an important space for the incarceration industry to maximize their prisoner intake. There's a whole economy from prison construction to food supply to the people who benefit from prisoner slave labour, and the government is looking out for that industry, simple as that.

My brand new Sony A7RIII drains fully charged batteries in about 3 days!!! Seriously though, that means something is wrong, right? This is my first Sony camera, and I know they are very poorly made, but for a camera this expensive with this much hype around it.. must be something wrong.
