I just couldn't pass that up.

Re: Roy Hibbert Apologizes for Saying “No Homo”

Christ, the people commenting are clueless.

The phrase "no homo" implies that there is something wrong with being a homosexual by going out of one's way to point out that the person speaking isn't a homosexual. The term "homo" itself is a slur. Period.

People lamenting the rise of "political correctness" are more often than not just mad they can't be assholes in public without facing some sort of consequences for it.

And if you're not a homosexual, you have exactly zero business commenting that a term for a homosexual isn't offensive.

I also like how being culturally aware and sensitive is considered a bad thing. Jesus Christ. Empathy is pretty much the only attribute needed to be a good person. You guys are right, our culture does suck; it sucks because large portions of our country look at things like empathy/sensitivity as bad and selfishness/ignorance as virtues.

All that said, I think everybody knows that Roy isn't a bigot. It was a (very) poor statement to make, but I don't have the slightest doubt that he's sorry and realizes it's a mistake. I also have no doubt that he'll do his damnedest to make it up to the fans and people who are understandably insulted. I'm disappointed in him, but I imagine he'll turn this into a good thing.

Re: Hoosiers looking forward to Hysteria on October 17

The student section is usually filled pretty well and always rowdy and loud. The rest of the stadium, however, is like a funeral. The students are doing their jobs, and have since I've been here (2005).
