I think the situation would have been a whole lot easier had Adam Scott not been a Australian or for that matter someone perceived as close to Greg Norman. While the Captain’s pick is supposed to be just that, that is, a captain’s pick, his pick still seems to defeat reason.

I was quite surprised by his very nice words about Adam Scott.

For him to actually say Scott “is a fantastic player, and I wouldn’t want to play him in match play because he’s a tough player. I’m sure he’ll go out there and put his best foot forward and try and help the team as much as he can. I have no problems with any decisions made“, is something that I definitely didn’t expect.

If I am allowed to be cheeky, perhaps Tiger Woods put his foot down and told the Shark that there is no way he could even consider Rory for this one!!

It has been a spectacular parting of the Tiger Woods and his famed pressure-defying putting in the last two tournaments. If the no-show on the greens, costing him the PGA Championship title started off the point of the debate, The Barclays miss this Sunday somewhat underlined it. Of course, it would be close to absurd to say that Tiger has lost the edge, but he definitely has lost some of the aura that had become his after those spectacular finishes through the years. Having said that, Heath Slocum has done himself a huge favour by escaping the grip of mediocrity he had been caught in this season, having even made these Playoffs on the brink. As you made the point, the win might just be a critical one for the three-time All-American in terms of how his career shapes from now on. The clutch putt on the finishing hole to made sure the ‘nice guy’ escaped the potentially nerve-racking play-off with some of the biggest names in the sport. The exhilaration of winning must have surely woken him up. And hopefully the next title will not take four years to come!
