However, I have to wonder if this is the case since isn't that exactly how Twitter's native button works? It simply shares a title and a link to the post/page.

Nicholas Z. The solution we came up with was to cache those social shares and then ONLY check once per hours for new posts, once every 3 hours for posts older than 21 days, and once every 6 hours for posts over 60 days old. This way those requests aren't happening on every page load, but instead only once in a while. We also never trigger the request if the page is being accessed a popular crawler like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.

Also, maybe you'll know the answer to this question, but why does GTmetrix and others use ajax requests that are run after the DOMLoaded event as part of the page load time? I specifically put things there just so the user will never, ever notice the slowdown. The page is already fully rendered and then we initiate an ajax request in the background so the user literally never even notices. So then why is that considered part of the page load score or speed or whatnot?

Nicholas Z. I keep seeing full page redirects that land on a page telling me that my computer is infected and my had drive will be deleted unless I install there software with exit popups warning me not to close the page or my drive will be deleted. That's definitely a scam worthy of being blocked.

Nicholas Z. I just watched the preview for that movie per your recommendation here and it really does look terrific. The overall concept does look like a total ripoff of Edge of Tomorrow, but I don't really care about that if it's executed really well. I'll probably watch this tonight, in fact. Thanks for the recommendation.

Nicholas Z. It should be a minimum percentage and a minimum quantity. For example, if a self-published author sends out a request with 50 links and 1 or 2 or those links contain a typo, no big deal. He or she made a mistake and are just trying to protect their hard work.

But if someone sends thousands and thousands or URL's to take down and the percentage is 5% or greater (or some reasonable amount) of invalid URLs then the entire request should be invalid or the recipient should be eligible for some compensation of some sort or something.

Nicholas Z. I've been seeing some of those both at The Pirate Bay and at Extra Torrent.

I don't have a problem giving those guys some advertising revenue when I'm on their site, but advertising like that is straight up sickening.

Nicholas Z. Thanks so much for mentioning our plugin here.

Tadeusz, yeah, basically you have to ask those networks for the share count of two different URL's and then add them together like they highlighted in the article above. In our plugin, we do all the hard work for you. You just fill in a few boxes to let us know what your previous URL structure looked like and then we check both formats for you.

Here's a link to the plugin home page just in case it is something in which you are interested: https://warfareplugins.com/

Nicholas Z. The page load issue is true for our home page. Right now we're just using an out of the box template with very few modifications and we don't have a caching plugin running. The plugin itself, however, is very well optimized. All images are highly compressed and hosted on CDN's, etc.

2. The try before you buy is a great idea which we are currently working on. We're hoping to have a free version ready to release by the beginning of the year. We'll see how that goes.

Nicholas Z. It would be like a corporation moving in and buying out a unique public library. I library that is filled with books that were only ever printed one time and can only be found in that library. Just before the wrecking ball strikes, they load as many books as they can fit into a wheelbarrow and carry them off to their new headquarters. The authors and the community would be shocked.
