We got the Vava VA-UC006, and while you note that the ethernet port could break, I wanted to give official confirmation for anyone else: It breaks almost immediately.

I wish they had made this part differently, or have it be fixed in place (even though it's size might mess with the nice thin aesthetic). Once it breaks, the only way to hold it in place is with tape, which kinda kills the design of this thing.

I love your guides, and I have implemented this, but it would be so nice if you gave a version that didn't include your method of using all the env variables like CRAFTENV_CRAFT_ENVIRONMENT. In order to use this, I have to buy into your entire paradigm of managing the environment, which is a significant amount of work and conceptual understanding that isn't necessary to get a ton of benefit out of the guide.

I've personally got the Aer, and I love it. The Incase is good, but the netting parts limit your ability to easily grab stuff, at least in my experience.

Do you guys use any kind of vagrant workflow to spin up virtual environments for easy local development? Your other articles are so in-depth and solidly thoughtful I'd love to know how you guys handle this. I've been playing around with https://github.com/niceands... which is pretty nice, although a little too opinionated with things like Neat and Bourbon included.

I've also read a lot about whether or not to include craft in your git repo, one of the arguments against it being that you can always upgrade locally and test things out before upgrading server side. If you're using a vagrant setup that mirrors your server, you are very unlikely to see any aberrant behavior.

I get to the horn creation/striping area, and then I can't seem to select just the yellow fill area. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it's like I'm missing a step. After I expand and ungroup, I can't seem to select just the yellow.

From the article:

"Let’s add some stripes to the horn. Select the horn and go to Object > Expand and hit OK. Then Ungroup (CMD + SHIFT + G). Select the yellow fill shape and Copy it (CMD + C) and Paste in Front (CMD + F). Select both fill shapes by Drag-selecting the whole horn and SHIFT+clicking the outline shape to deselect it. Now that you have the two fill shapes selected, go to Object > Clipping Mask > Make (CMD + 7)."

I'm very tempted by the Samsung, as it's $700 cheaper than the Panasonic rated best by the Wirecutter. However, as a long term purchase, is it worth the $700 bucks to get the 60 inch Panasonic instead? Ie, if I own this tv for 6+ years, should I consider that $700 bucks to be worth it?

I guess I want to know how much worse it is than the Panasonic. $700 is a lot!

I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to do this, but have you tried to do it with the photosets? I'm trying to override the default Flash and use fancybox for photosets, similar to how the Effector theme does it, but I'm having trouble even getting a toe-hold.

I literally just dropped this into a theme I was working on and it worked perfectly pretty much out of the box, which is kind of astounding. However, how would you go about using this with photosets? For instance replacing the existing slideshow effects with fancybox? I'm gonna keep cranking on it and see if I can't work it out, as well as working with it for the newest version of fancybox. I'll let you know how it goes, thanks for this though this is pretty incredible.

I'm especially curious about new hardware from Boxee. It's been over a year since they launched the Boxee Box, and while I really want to buy it, I'm terrified that they will release a new product with stuff like the LiveTV built in and a better gpu, which would be a total bummer. I feel like a yearly release cycle is pretty normal with the improvements that happen with gpus and cpus.

I find this hard to believe. I have multiple dismissals on my record from my teenage years, and I have a friend who has multiple convicted felonies from around 10 years ago, and we both work in high security admin roles at a very large IT company. I understand this may not necessarily be par for the course, but I also find it hard to believe that this is a primary issue for not getting offered a job.

That said, my buddy with multiple convictions had them for drug related offenses, and it might be very different for someone with violent felonies. He was also very up front with HR about what was on his record, and they told him flat out that it shouldn't be an issue. Like everyone with convictions, he was extremely concerned that it would compromise his career, but so far it hasn't.
